UP has fired its CEO and is moving full steam ahead with plans to relocate headquarters from Omaha to San Francisco.

Expect the new CEO to be from the Bay Area.

There is no top talent in Omaha. That’s why they’re moving the headquarters. It doesn’t sound like you’ll be invited so don’t worry about it. Only top talent going.

Top educated talent won’t work for UP. They’re smarter than that.

Because it is easier to recruit top educated talent in California than in the stinkhole of Omaha.

California has a corporate tax rate of 8.84%, and Nebraska has a rate of 7.75%. So what you're saying is that the UP only wants to move to SanFran because that where their retreats are? SanFran also has much higher crime rates, on top of the other higher taxes in the country. The 1.09% difference in taxes is a lot when your total revenue is in the billions. Other than the retreats out there, can you tell the rest of us what incentive the UP has for relocating out there?

Now I see where the Omaha layoffs / quits will come from . Many will not move to SanFran.

Not true.. They already have most of their senior leadership retreats there. It was recently agreed during the executive round table to continue with the United SanFran 2024 proposal. Please stop spreading false information when you weren’t at the meeting.

Ok if it's full steam ahead, then where's the legal filing stating that the UP corporate is seeking to relocate? California is by far one of the highest tax states in America, so it wouldn't make any financial sense to relocate to a state that even rich people are moving out of. There's even quite a few big corporations that left California as well because of the high taxes. Just a thought, but maybe try posting something that actually makes sense and is verifiable. Again, just a thought.

B.S. posting. Why would UP relocate to San Francisco? If they ever relocated it would be to a tax friendly state where they have major operation such as Texas. A few years ago there were discussions on moving part of the HQ operations to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This make much more sense than moving to a tax heavy state like CA. I personally don’t believe they will move from Omaha given the expence it would cost in moving packages for the employees, and the infrastructure costs in moving a huge company’s operations. The.new CEO will be expected to make an immediate financial impact and moving the.operations would cost an enormous amount of money. The more likely thing to happen is more cuts ti show an immediate savings and boost the stock price. I hope this doesn’t happen, but if Vena is appointed the next CEO you can bet on new cuts within the next year.
