If you apply and get a promotion through a competitive process, then you have to be in job for a year to apply again (unless you have manager approval to post out sooner). If you were promoted in-role without a competitive process (meaning your manager promoted you without having to "apply" to the next level role), you are allowed to post out at any time, so long as you were in your former position and now this new position a total of 12 months.

again, look at your profile in workday, if time in job is >=12 you are fine. in your scenario your job profile changed and while that number likely reset on Feb 1, the other didn't. Apply away

OP here. Thank - same job title just a senior to a lead and the next step up would be a senior lead. I didn’t apply or interview it was granted in the year end cycle. Thanks for the feedback!

Was the promotion an offer and did you have an opportunity to negotiate a new salary, etc.? Assuming it was just the standard promotion of 'hey you're doing a good job and your duties aren't really changing but we want you to be happy' -- then you're good to apply.

I had this happen where I had been asking for a deserved promotion for ages and was told they were trying and finally got the promotion as part of the review cycle. Meanwhile, I'd already applied and been offered the job title they were promoting me to - so was a bit of an awkward conversation. "Thanks so much - but since it took 8 months, I went ahead and took care of the promotion myself."

you do not need to wait and can apply for a new position now.

Depends on the promotion. If the promotion is a different job title, you need to wait 12 months. If it's a higher level but same job title like Jr to Sr or 3 to 4, then you can apply right away.

If you’ve been in your current role less than 22 months you need to get your current managers permission to apply and be considered.

if you look at your profile in work day there are two dates if concern, time in position and time in job profile. to change roles without manager permission you need to be in your current position at least 12 months. assuming you didn't change groups with your promotion than only the job profile date will have changed, position time will remain the same. if that is >=12mo you are good to go

promotions do not count for the 1 year between new jobs - you can apply asap
