Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Layoff’s smayloffs.

The pendulum swings one way then another. The great resignation one year, massive layoff the next. In both cases there’s a vacuum that needs to be filled. Companies don’t really layoff, they just exchange employees. Instead of making 6 figures at Citi, you go across the street to make 6 figures. Just another chapter in your book of life. Move on and let it go. Maybe greener pastures, maybe not. Just move on.

Layoff in Citi Canada has been started with 60 non-working days notice and severance package.. Definitely in future some bright minds will avoid this so called names when they think about long terms.. I have a baby of 5 months and I haven't even exhausted the paternity leave balance but have been victim of this lay off..

I think some of the biggest mistakes that people make is:

  1. ) expect a company to bend to their will
  2. ) expect a company to stay the same

They often forget about option 3 which is to move on. With every single layoff there is a talent vacuum that needs to be filled. Seek out those vacuums in other companies. Right now in light of every company laying off. There’s not much panic when it comes to hiring people. When the recession is over there will be a hiring spree across the board. Tow the company line right now and make your move then.
