Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

Cenovus Has Become a Horrible Company

Cenovus has become a cheap, petty, and very untrusting company since Husky acquisition. Now that bonus’s are paid can’t wait to find something else. Very sad as was so great a year ago.

Husky was a sh---y company on the verge of bankruptcy. Sh---y assets; sh---y leadership. So what does Cenovus do? Buy them and put their leaders in charge.

Cenovus used to be the gem of O&G companies. Sad to see it’s decent into less than mediocrity.

If Jon has a brain like he acts like he does in his condescending monologues he’ll clean house especially the unscrupulous execs and bring back some of the excellent leaders we lost. But alas I think he’ll just do more of the same and run the company into the ground.

Well it’s clear that Cenovus again failed to manage any meaningful integration with purchases from other companies. Just waiting to have a bit of an uptick in stock from oil price increases so I can sell what I have left. No confidence. Another failed merger.

Don’t worry it’ll get better once all the cenovus mo--ns are gone.

My only hope is that DZ has finally run out of luck. If he is still here in six months I will take that as a sign that Jon isn’t committed to making any kind of meaningful change and that mediocrity and poor leadership remain acceptable.

I for one think it’s great , glad to see some management changes , now ole John will have his hands full cause he really should clean house and go pretty far down the chain all the way to production foreman too much buddy buddy sh-t for too long and I think it’s starting to show some areas sure have a lot less production since the takeover be pretty easy to see the trend management stayed the same employees got packaged still less production hmmm

What @3loo+1lrLfuXp and others who post knocking-down Legacy Husky employees fail to recognize is that those of us in leadership positions at peer companies know the truth. Legacy Cenovus employees were overpaid, lazy, arrogant and therefore are not employable.

All former Husky people must be let go. All departments: IT, contracts, finance. Jon will be a disaster so not much future unfortunately. Never trusted accountants

Husky was almost bankrupt before Cenovus bought them for pennies. Only regrets are Cenovus kept the disgruntled Husky staff.

Alex gets an F for how he ran this company as a new CEO. He did nothing to lead internally. He spent all his time advocating externally as a politician with nominal results while ignoring the toxic culture and actually running his business. Cruise control CEO.

Put out to pasture on the Board where he can show up every quarter, ask a few questions, get overpaid, then go back home to retirement.
Good bye and good luck.

Cenovus coveted Husky's downstream assets. There is only so much appetite for dilbit. Husky was the superior company.

Cenovus is nothing but a one-trick pony.

Hey @qvc+1lrLfuXp ... Cenovus was such a great company that in 2018 AP had to go beg Notley to put curtailments in place. Then he begs Kenney to keep them in place after the 2019 election. P A T H E T I C !!!

Think of it as slippers - they were in good condition after Alex came in and turned the company morale around. Then they decided to buy dogs, and the dogs are slowly chewing the slippers apart. Soon there will be nothing left but the dogs and a pile of sh*t with some slipper fragments.

What a fk'd-up place. I've been waiting four weeks for SCM to negotiate T&Cs for $150K engineering study. Then today we catch sh-t from SCM Manager that the proposal was not received via Ariba. Somehow that's the critical point here? I can't recall working for a more bureaucratic organization.
