Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

who needs layoffs - the lost generation of engineers

Teradata was once great because despite all obstacles, they retained everyone and retooled to overcome them. Many people joined the company, grew up, master the product and continued to carry the torch of excellence from those before them.

With the transformation years, ill conceived strategies, bad management, and right down mistreatment and discrimination of a variety were adopted ushered in. A whole generation of very talented engineers were completely turned off and so left on their own, leaving a vacuum of technical leadership that was to guide the company into the future. This led to many bad hires by management to fill the gap with NO success. TIO was created and staffed with high paid scientists that produced nothing and if anything, a drag on the engineers that do the real work. Just like everything set up during the transformation, TIO failed miserably.

So who needs layoffs, this place knows how to push people away without one because nothing have changed. Another attempt to set up a technical organization is in the works by people who knows nothing about the product and more good people will be leaving soon, continuing the dismantling of a once great company.

Observe and decide for yourself.

Another layoff, another group of knowledgeable, experience, and loyal workers disposed of so ELT can preserve their bonuses and RSUs. Are we that much better than a year a go? Nope. Nothing change around here.

Another generation on the way out... further seal the faith of this place.

Yeah, I remember some of the best and brightest up and coming engineers left and never looked back during the RP period when some of the current engineering VPs and SVPs took over. They are thriving and building great careers elsewhere.
