E-card - Employee appreciation day - really?!

What was that all about? Do leaders really think an e-card is going to make a difference? So detached from reality. What a sad place - leaders below execs do not seem to speak up. They just want to keep their jobs and title.

@dce+1lwNssBu - "The profits of our business seem to serve just a few at the top, like everything else in the world." The top is the T-Family. They own the majority. They only care about a number, and the ELT makes decisions accordingly. They do what is best for them - not customers, not employees. To the extent an employee believes it is in their own best interest to invest their time into their role, then they should do that - but only because it is for their own development, growth, or personal benefit. Don't expect recognition from TR because it isn't likely to happen.

I’m with the poster who said the e-card actually lowered their morale.

It’s a meaningless gesture that is more frustrating - giving everyone an e-card with same message is just pointless. It’s not personal at all and there’s no intrinsic value to the card or message. Who is advising them I wonder? They really got this wrong. The profits of our business seem to serve just a few at the top, like everything else in the world. If only companies can factor in morale and ethical duties a bit more and share a bit more of the pie with those who work hard for them. The world unfortunately is full of greedy people. Why does someone need 4million a year? At the bottom end you have workers who are just surviving and are in food and fuel poverty.

An e-card addressed to "team" at that. Couldn't even spring for the mail merge.
In all seriousness, I'm petty enough that these generic Appreciate cards without points attached actually LOWER my morale.
