Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

What Happens Next

Here is what happens next following a sale:

About 10 of the highest paid employees will be offered more money to stick around during the transition - they will call them retention bonuses.

These same employees will then lead rah rah townhalls telling the rank and file how great things are going to be for the new company going forward - but oddly those making these statement required retention packages to stick around.

Lastly, the new employees will be told to collaborate (AKA train each other) after which more cuts follow and the final reward is given to the rank and file - more workload, stagnant pay and a self rewarded leadership that does not care one bit.

Just spoke to a Kinetic Small Business Manager. They informed their team was hit yesterday. All front line and Tier1 reps given a 10 day notice. Their jobs are being outsourced to Jamaica. Wonder if that’s the location for TT’s top sales incentive trip this year 🤔

Forget all of this we need to adapt the NFL rules. We hit a salary cap, we cut the most expensive players. Next we goto the draft and pick up a new quarterback. The last step is hiring a new head coach and bringing in new assistants.

After a few failed seasons the "fans' are angry and want a title.

Elliot, can we hit the reset button already.

If the frontier thing was going to happen it would have been announced long ago. They are also broken and coming out of chapter 11.

I'm sure it would be difficult to get regulatory approval for the combined entities.

I think spinning off all of the assets is the only thing that makes sense right now. Not sure how they do that with ILEC/ UNITI in bed with each other.

Yeah idk who'd buy this for 1billion..it'd be complicated as he-l with the intermixed networks. Wholesale support is terrible, technicians to support the network is bare bones at this point..can't keep them with the company due to the workload. The only things that make sense or might work is Uniti/Windstream, or possibly Windstream/Frontier..which would have already happened if it was meant to be as Elliot holds both.

Lots of investors want to buy this Mutha!

Problem is we have greedy C level execs that don't understand real value. They called in the referee ( commercial investment banks) to give everyone a dose of reality.

Lots of failed projects here! Remember software powerhouse and open source.
All of that buzz word bingo noise went away fast.

Much like Zayo, interested parties pulled back the curtains and said WTF.
All we had to show was spare change, pocket lint, a few TDM voice switches, and some ATM dslams.

Someone’s gonna buy Mothra??? Yogi???? and a world class no outage leased network for the give away services that reside. Wonder where the Tower business will land? What happened to Optical 7 and their development? Saw Cisco Optics were what made highlights for Wholesale. Elliot’s is cashing in, Uniti’s dropping hard. 1 more year till Lil T’s gone and a over flow of non knowledgeable middle management trying to play woke game of kiss up to the next one in charge.

@2iut+1lwTNWXG

In reference to the sale of the wholesale business unit.
The investors are incharge now not the board.

Is this in reference to the auction of Wholesale? Or, something else in the works?

The answer is simple, you only need 30% of the work force to sign Union cards to have an election, then only 50% to form one.

@Lost cause ... 20 years? well, you might not make it past this one. You have been around far to long and are now a liability due to the money you make. You can be replaced by someone who has 3 years in and making less than you and will have less vacation time. At a certain time the money 1 makes, makes them a target to upper management when they want to cut costs. Labor cost is first thing they look at.

This will be the 5th merger/acquisition/ restructuring I have been through in 20 years.

Nothing EVER gets better. We've seen this episode before.

OP nailed it, lots of retention bonuses and silver Parachutes.

Yes. The suck up is already on. Trying to get in good and anticipating what is going to be cut to try to position oneself higher than others. Still lots of waste and unnecessary expense. Lots of skeletons there too. Maybe one day they’ll come out ;) I’m sure they’re still doing all the fancy trips and all too.
