Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Old manager

Received an email with a previous manager on it and noticed he is now some BS consultant. Wells does need to cut the fat in some areas. He was completely useless. Unbelievable how someone like that keeps climbing.

It depends on the type of manager…
I managed a team of over 200 about ten years ago and made less than half what I do as a consultant today and I have much more influence on high level decisions in my line of business as a consultant than I did as a l senior level line manager.

To fail up you just need someone higher than you on the chain who responds to kissing up. That’s it

assoc managers are equivalent to somewhere in-between sr and lead consultant, manager and sr manager align somewhere in-between lead and sr. lead consultant.

I haven't found a way to put myself in the right opportunity to be allowed to fail up.

Would much rather find out where my incompetence threshold is than dominate my mediocrity at WF today.

Maybe my incompetence is that I can't find a way to fail up?

There are a few in marketing who are like cockroaches. Spend their days spreading filth and could survive a nuclear blast.

Depends on what consultant role. Sounds like a demotion.
