Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Short and long game ... what's in the future for all

Now that AIP will be paid out. Many of us will start the exodus.

If you're starting your career, this is place is as good as any to learn the technology, product, do all the social stuff, attend activism meetings and not really deliver products but who cares ... get it all out of your system and move on to a place to do real work and establish a career.

If you're in the final years of work, milk it as much as you can. Why not? The ELT is and is less competent so you will look really smart as long as you nod your head repeatedly to stroke their ego and make them feel like they know what they are doing.

Anyone else in between are in their prime and earning years. If you take pride in your work that will mean something to the customer and industry. This place is not it. There are many other places with much more clear strategy, objectives, and longer term prospect and higher reward mentally, financially, and intellectually than here. Why wait to plant your roots at a better place so you can reap the rewards of your hard work when the time comes. Nothing will change here as many have observed. The uncertainty of the product, the terrible management, the rigged compensation, and toxic culture lead to wasted time if one stays to try to put the pieces back together after the same management broke it. Why not go to other places, take healthy risks and learn new technology, work on new products, and meet new management of higher caliber that you can learn from on how to build a company in a real start up environment.

The current ELT might entice people to stay with some big $$$ in the short term now because they are desperate but everyone saw how they treated those engineers that have been here after they get what they wanted out of them.

There is no future at this place. Remember that it's better to get a job when you have a job on your own schedule and terms than when you don't have a job at the most unfortunate time.

Many people will leave soon. Observe and decide for yourself. Good luck.

Don't wait until it's too late to leave. Next round of layoffs in the works now that the biggies have announced theirs in early 2023 on the heel of recent layoffs.

Or if it makes sense with your schedule, stay, collect paychecks, and turn out the lights because mgmt won't even know if you just go along with what they say and stroke their egos.
