Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Salary

So learned that someone who has been with Allstate for less than year makes more than me in same position. I have more experience and train this person often.
Wtf do I do?

Most of these replies are either bitter or ignorant. A few are spot on. Basically, Allstate increases pay at 3% unless the employee receives a UN or the PDS is less than expected/off target. Then no increase. Pretty standard at all the companies I have worked for.

I would suggest getting involved in a council or extracurricular workgroup, being extremely active in teams, huddles, and meetings, and answering questions from your peers regularly. Document everything you do, add it to your PDS for mid year and annual PDS review.

The current work environment prioritizes culture involvement and networking 1st, Ambition and proactivity 2nd, quality and performance 3rd.

If you are experienced and unlicensed, get your license and apply for an adjuster role. The development programs will almost guarantee you an adjuster position. If you are licensed, move up until you become an experienced lit or prepped BI adjuster. Then keep an eye out for CSL positions. If you stay in your current position too long inflation outpaces annual raises.

Remember that licensed insurance professionals are in crazy high demand as the last of the boomers leave and even gen x start retiring. The grass isn't always greener, but moving between allstate, ABI, Assurance, etc. Is a good way to expand your career and maintain your pension.

It’s very silly. The company also claims to be a “pay for performance” company which isn’t true. I was a leader there that dealt with salaries. We had someone who was a low performer but was constantly below the 25 MRR so the company kept bumping their salary up when we were trying to keep it low. So we tried to hold them accountable for low performance and the company automatically bumped them up. They aren’t close to a pay for performance company.

This is completely normal. New hires at Allstate are almost always paid more than incumbents of the same role type/band level.

To the OP, this is actually normal at Allstate, it is the way we do pay and it is wrong. The pay bands often go up each year more than an employee will get for a raise, that means you will eventually find yourself making less than a new employee, case in point a friend of mine was frustrated for the same reason you were and was paid in the 25th percentile when she was part of the layoff, then 6 months later she applied for an opening that was the same role she was laid off from and ended up coming in just over the 50th percentile of the band.

To the person that said talk to the manager and record the call, if a person does that they need read up on the laws for recording in your state if you and the other person are in a 2 party state and they are not aware you could be guilty of violating wiretapping laws. This situation happened about 3 years ago both were in 2 party states, the employee later played the recording for another manager, the whole thing resulted in the employee being terminated.

A/S is bleeding employees so they are offering higher salaries to new hires because Of competition. They just can’t get candidates so they are throwing money at them to get them in the door.

You don’t get what you deserve, you get what you accept. Google pay raise comparisons for those that stay v changing employers (with experience).

Don’t blame your low level manager, you report to the person in the mirror. Go get that bread homie.

Inquire with your leader immediately (record the call) and ask for a follow up in writing. Or send your leader a follow-up email with the details of the call and request confirmation. Next, request a breakdown from HR on how offers/salaries are issued and request for your experience to be quantified against others that you claim are paid more. Gather as much detail from each entity and contact an attorney. Name your state in response and I am happy to give options if I have any but you will absolutely be rewarded. Best

Confront your supervisor and put them on the spot, maybe you can get an explanation. Then start looking for employment elsewhere. Remember at Allstate the nosers get all the $$.

Form a Union. Contact an organization to help transform Allstate into a Union insurance company. Or just complain cuz nothing is gonna happen until you do something to support the workers.
