Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

U.S. Bancorp aka U.S. Bank blacklisting former employees from being rehired under the Greedy Andy Cecere era?

Is there any way to find out if I have been blacklisted from rehire? In my previous department I was “laid off” as retaliation from a manger for calling out her errors. As Greedy Andy has already demonstrated that he will turn a blind eye to illegal activity within US Bank to line his pockets and his “employees are only a number” attitude during his reign of te---r as CEO, I feel that U.S. Bank blacklisting a former employees application process is more likely than ever.

I worked in HR for many years (at multiple companies) and yes, when you leave a company, they usually set your employment status to 'Terminated' regardless of why you are no longer working there.

In the state of MN you have the right to inspect your employment file, and to add your own letter to it stating the reason you are leaving, but you have to do this before you leave the job.

This website under estimates the total incompetence of middle management. So many layers of managers reporting to other managers. None of these layers adding any value. Just more incompetence. These are long-term, brown nose, yes people. Millions could be save if these positions were eliminated and nothing would be lost.

US Bank is notorious for wrongful termination. If you knew how incompetent and unprofessional they are you wouldn't want to work here.

I worked for us bank for nearly 18 years and was laid off from the recent reorganization in late 2022 I had an old pension plan that if rehired I could have continued it. But I applied for several jobs and got no calls back. Top performing banker

Worked there twice. 1st time in Richard Davis era (i quit because i wanted to advance quicker - but there was advancement opps at the time at US bank) and 2nd time Andy Cecere era...where I was fired for what I can best describe as having a mental breakdown. It was during a lot of the big changes/layoffs and trust me, you dont wanna go back.

US Bank is notorious in the banking industry to terminate employees with no justification or exaggerate the reason for termination. My advice is to seek a lawyer for wrongful termination. You'd be surprised when they can do.

I’m pretty sure “terminated” is standard language for former employees. There isn’t an implication there. Besides, as far as I know, US Bank only does dates of employment verification via The Work Number.

I gave my full two weeks notice and resigned properly. I’m coded as “terminated” in all of my paperwork. My previous manager told me not to worry about it, but I’m also wondering who I can call to verify my status because I certainly wasn’t terminated and I certainly don’t want USB to tell any future employers that I was. It’s not about returning to USB, it’s what others may think when they hear you’re “terminated” or “not rehirable.”

OP, if you fear you’ve been let go of or blacklisted as a form of retaliation, please report to your states labor board.

If you feel this way, and by no means am I suggesting that you shouldn't, why would you want to return to work for U.S Bank? I can speak from experience as I was laid off last year and found a job at another bank that pays more with much better work/life balance. The grass can be greener outside of US Bank.
