Contact your TAA person. Go to the website and call to see all who were laid-off qualify for TAA. If your job is being outsources, then file for TAA. HR has to give the TAA representative a list of those laid-off and those who qualify for TAA. Also, if the petition is approved by a judge, then everyone in the company in a specific state/location would get TAA from the dates (usually a few years). This means all those who are cut in the near future would also qualify for TAA. Get a TAA person involved. This may also extend the unemployment by six more months.

Please do yourself a favor and call the TAA representative. In my company, the judge ruled that the job was being outsourced, and everyone at that NJ Telecom Networking company location got TAA (that's over 2000 employees). Only one employee filed the application cause he was able to show his job was being outsourced cause he was asked to train someone not in his location and then got cut so they could take over his job. Well, the judge ruled (not only his job was being outsourced) but the entire location for up to two years from the date of judgement. So everyone, who got cut after that date was able to get TAA. There are many many benefits. Most companies don't tell you about this and I didn't know at first either until I got cut at my company and looked into this. Someone has already filed a form and judge ruled for the employees to get TAA. But HR did not tell anyone about this. Several people continuously contacted the TAA representative until she got fed up with us and finally told us she had contacted HR and was waiting for a list of peoples name who would qualify for TAA (and that was everyone that was cut during that time) since the judge ruled for the entire site location. HR does not like this, so if you call them, they will do everything possible to tell you that you don't qualify. That's why you should call the TAA representative.

: @OP+1m2G5YH8- good info. However… knowing how this orgs operates- ratter pay the fines than be in compliance. They will NEVER admit RIF resources due to jobs moving to offshore. In M&A culture they perfect the art of RIF systematically. The stock options and bonuses means too much to the top - sustainability of family for those impacted by RIF was never their concern… sadly

If they outsource your job, meaning for example - have Infosys employees in India do your job, then you may qualify for TAA.
The Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program is a federal entitlement program that assists US workers who have lost or may lose their jobs as a result of foreign trade. This program seeks to provide adversely affected workers with opportunities to obtain the skills, credentials, resources, and support necessary to become reemployed.
