His new country club is in Augusta and hosts a very big tournament each year. You can see him in photos with his Augusta National polo on. It is also very convenient when you move from your companies HQ to a city just a few hours away...
It's a strategy to get senior leadership in front of everyone. The head of EMEA sales session from Live showed how useless she was. Very underwhelmed by almost these execs. JD is occasionally good. Rest are... uninspiring.

You are very confused. A CEO focuses on improving the company brand to Wall Street and customers. Whether the CEO has a sales or engineering background is inconsequential. He needs to get pension funds and banks to buy Cisco stock
CEO is the face of the company, he/she should spend more time with external customers (eg Press, Wall street , trade show, analyst, customers etc ) to promote the image of company
