The employee praise emails flowed like honey during COVID. Many people paid for upgraded internet service, spent personal money on office supplies, worked long hours, and generally stepped up to help their employer. Every single employee could have simply said, on any given day, "My internet service is down today, and I cannot work until it's repaired." It would have been crippling for any company. In fact, it would have been crippling for our entire financial system. There was nothing to stop employees from 'sticking it to them'. But employees showed them genuine good will, and they thanked them for it -- repeatedly and copiously. They came to employees hat in hand, and employees obliged -- like good people do in a crisis.
Now that COVID is winding down, they display their true colors. "Get back into the office! We are sick and tired of this insolence!"
Ah, how short their collective corporate managerial memory is!
