Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Work is slow and I'm worried

The only thing more stressful than being overwhelmed is when your work becomes so slow that you literally have nothing to do.

I don't want to lose my job, but I'm very worried. What do the rest of you do in a situation like this?

This company is very toxic, btw I like the products (well done to all of experts who created it and maintained)but the management is terrible and I am feeling so depressed , never in any company felt like this..so my solution is believe in your great expertise, in yourself and move on to look for opportunities somwhere else. I will no longer allow TR management to be so ignorant and manipulative...my health is more important then their funny games. Never felt more happy to make a decision to leave the company ( it used to be so difficult decisions) but this time it is easy decision and I am excited to exit TR. Good luck to all of you but belive in yourself you can HAVE better place to work.

The only option looking at today's scenario across all different organization --upskill,upskill,upskill...The environment is so volatile and the layoffs are becoming so common.

This environment is so toxic, I should've started looking elsewhere sooner (i.e. before December's layoffs). Still not enough work coming through which ironically means theres too many of us in socials working on paid-for content. Talk about too many chefs...! Sucks so bad.

TR fires people when times are good and when times are bad. Enjoy the slow times. I know that the FindLaw BU is super slow and everyone is worried. They are so far behind on their numbers they just got $1 million mid year cash infusion for the poor performance in their directories because they can no longer hide and sweep in under the rug. They are selling only 40ish new websites a month compared to the expected +100 every month. It’s in a tailspin and the leadership team is freaking out with no plan to solve it besides throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks.

2023 is going to suck. And be prepared for serious cuts to FL as they make those decisions in July/August and announce them in November. No way to climb back by then.

Enjoy the slow times but be realistic. If you are really worried switch jobs or just pick up a second full time job ;)
