MGM Resorts just announced internally a restructuring of their technology organization. I am part of a organization restructuring where everyone's role is terminated but you have to re-apply to their new positions in the org otherwise you are effectively laid off.

same thing is happening again in TDD…. may 15, 2024 last day for many. same inept ex-disney employees promoted while 20+ year employees with institutional knowledge thrown out .:: stay far away… place is a disaster.
Whoops, the chickens are coming home to roost.

I been searching for MGM announcements of the layoff but haven't seen much on social media except for a few people that have open to work tags at MGM. The odd thing is that I heard about the outsource from a vendor a few weeks ago before management finally executed plan. I recall the Xerox outsourcing it was a messed. I no longer believe in company loyalty with employees. Never put work before family or personal health. Advanced your career path my networking outside work and meeting new people. It not what you do but who you know that will your career.
Have there been any layoffs in other parts of the organization like CIO org or Commercial?
Technically what was done yesterday doesn't even qualify as a WARN notice. Severance packages were supposed to be distributed in writing today. They are trying to create a since of urgency around re-applying by only listing the jobs for three days internally and doing so before the package is revealed. Not sure on the legal ramifications as to if a person applies and does not like and ultimately declines an offer. Would that be classified as a self term if the job is later shown to be significantly similar or would that just be evidence that it wasn't truly a layoff? There are so many things about this that demonstrate a breakdown in management and business acumen.
How is the severance package? Is everyone given the option to re-apply?
All of IT support teams were essentially laid off, its crazy how sr management dont care for the employees who worked for many years and all the late nights and work load from being short staffed.
With COVID they gutted everything. we managed with less than half the staff to just survive. Then they hired some expensive 'new technology' people, but not all let go for COVID and expected back to normal results.
Disney CIO brought in tons of ex-Disney employees at huge raises and two level management promotions. All chiefs, no indians. They just let go the indians.
TDD... Technology, Data and Delivery????
Information Management.
Outsourcing of IT department coming!
Trying to cut 50% head count for dividends for stock holders at end of year! But cut low-paid legacy employees, up to 27 year of experience, gone!
The same mistake GE made back in the 80's and 90's when they outsourced overseas, the quality tanked and hurt their corporate reputation. Look at GE now!
Now MGM is repeating it, in 2008 when City Center almost bankrupted them they outsourced to Xerox. It cost them huge expenses and then when they wanted out of the deal, Xerox sued and it cost even more.
Those let go today were brought in to fix that huge mistake but here they are again.
what department were in?
