Will Dell require people to return to office?

What you are seeing is a bunch of rogue management trying to circumvent the official dell policy for their own. It wont be official. Just a weak arm-bending attempt by certain managers and directors.
This is real. Heard from multiple VPs. The execs want people to fill the buildings. 2-3 days a week depending on the orgs. Everyone should push back. Announcement in May. Wish I was trolling but it’s real
What tram, support ?
Manager in Emea has told the team that 3 days in the office will be happening in the next few months.
OK.Well ill say an email is coming from what I have been told. You say its not and that its bull and im a disgruntled laid of staff and we can see whos talking cr-p in a few weeks.
Why come on layoff thread if you dont want to listen to what people who are at Dell are saying?I dont get it.
If people here didnt work at Dell why would we be on this thread?
Something doesnt give on this site.Senior managment looking to downplay the panic if you ask me but we will leave the negative talk until tell Dell.
If rumours are true we wont have long left until all is revealed and Jeff.Oh my mistake McFly can come back on trolling to his hearts content.Clue is in the Tee's
We have been moved to Monday to Friday, after being on Shift for the last 15 years. 6 people were laid off last week in my area...twice as many as the first time, so I believe the ramp up has begun, and whilst 15,000 would be alot, I believe it will be more than the 6500 the first round, so likely 12K-13K more to go. Departments are about to be consolidated and/or closed down. we have been merged into another group who have similiar skillsets, but across different products, so that will be the way moving forward. More products/work to do, with less staff to do it. You will all know in the next 2-4 weeks. The end of Dell is here...Michael is about to Retire, sell Vmware, and Now it appears he will be selling Dell Aswell
Yup. Talked to director level. No RTO.
Sounds like more disgruntled laid off trying to stir the pot again.
Have had this confirmed today.
Email in the next couple of weeks so im told.
I asked my director about this and he said he has heard nothing and that they hired the team with remote in mind and not being beside an office
When is this announcement expected ?
Definite. Better off cutting Apex and entire ELT, jokers and bluffers. Be thankful if you get cut and get off the sinking ship.
i have also heard about this, when is the email due ?
But there aren't enough desks 😉
There is about to be an announcement from the very top that anyone within an hour commute will be going into the office at least twice a week. And this so flies in the face of all the touting of how we don’t need to be in the office to have a strong culture and to get our jobs done.
If I return to the office, it's to drop my equipment off for good.
My team from director down has no desire to go to office. We have been told not to worry about the chatter. This initiative seems to be manager/director lead.
ya, nothing better than getting into the office and then jumping on a zoom call with the people sitting right next to you. Makes the drive in worth it.
I can't wait to go back. Teamwork, camaraderie, getting to know your manager better. Everything I've always wanted
I thought everyone in Cork was let go.
It was intimated yesterday that it would be coming in soon in Cork. 2 days a week or so.
No.
There is NO office to return to. Literally.

I guess we are doing it wrong:
‘If you are counting on forced hours spent in a traditional office to create collaboration and provide a feeling of belonging within your organization, you’re doing it wrong,’ Dell says of his fellow tech CEOs mandating office hours.

Rubbish
who are they hiring to determine if you actually live one hour from the office. They'll have to give a list of nearby towns that have to show up. Heck, they don't even open up the cafeteria at 176 on Fridays and the days it is open, it's understaffed and the food is lousy.
If that’s true, it’s being used as a litmus/loyalty test like at Amazon and others.
You are correct. Anyone who is living within 1 hour of a major Dell office is expected to come in at least twice a week. Will be announced within the next few weeks.
I don't understand why, they asked us all to sign up to Connected Workplace, can they really take it away?
IMO...once MD decides hes done with day to day and wants to move off into the sunset, J Clarke and his ego take over and i bet some sort of RTO will be implemented.
no once they can you ,you can do whatrver you want
The RR campus is a ghost town. Had to go visit the helpdesk the other day. Except for them, only saw three other people doing desk work and I'm pretty sure they were only there to get away from their families. I live less than 5 miles away and was remote 10 year before covid. Wouldn't be surprised if they closed down everything but building 1 and 5.
Unless Mr. Dell moves on and a new CEO wants to "show who's boss", forcing people to work in office is not part of the strategy.
"I doubt it, they saved a ton of money by closing almost every office. Not a company that thinks years in advance"
What does that mean? They were thinking years in advance by offering work-from-home years before Covid hit. Work from home has been a long term goal. I'm only a few miles from the office and have no intention to go back there. Haven't for 5 yrs.
the cafeteria is closed at 176 on Friday. What does that tell you. All indications are is that they could care less if people come back to the office.
Even living next to the round rock office I was basically full remote for years pre-Covid. The weird open desk layouts after they renovated made it basically impossible to get any work done so most started working from home.
No way anyone would go back to that.
Lol. No. they liquidated equipment and sold buildings and land.
What office? It's a fraction of what it used to be before. so no way they can accommodate full staff in office.
I doubt it, they saved a ton of money by closing almost every office. Not a company that thinks years in advance
Generally, no
What office? LOL - most offices outside of TX and MA have been closed for years
