Thread regarding John Hancock layoffs

April 2023

I heard there were cuts last week. I am on vacation and am afraid to go back on Monday. What’s happening?

Still remember my layoff, close to 200 people were let go, via MS teams, no notice. They let go of amazing people while the incompetent senior leadership stayed. I just hope they sell or spin off the JH piece so maybe my decades of money invested there goes up.

It'll only get worse if we don't make a big deal out of this. Seems like John Hancock is in a practice of having layoffs at least twice per year and rehiring people to fill the spot of those let go.

I hope you went back to a job because they let 80 or so go, myself and a a bunch of amazing coworkers included. The did it coldly and cutthroat with a scheduled 1:1 and than your manager reading their prepared layoff script. It took two minutes. No emotions. No one knew it was coming and caused distress and panic at throughout the entire LTC etc. I wish you well and hope that if you were among the cut like myself, you find a place of employment that actually will care for you and treat you like a human being and not a means to an end got tax season.

My brother-in-law just got laid off this morning. While he was working, on vacation. A 2- minute phone call after 18 years with the company. You are just a number to them, no matter the dedication you show. Good luck to all the others affected by this corporate shuffle, you are in my prayers.
