Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Are things getting like this "Inside" Intel?

Old time ex-Intel here who left with a nice package in 2016 ACT2 reductions. I was glad to leave with such a lucrative package given that I saw the company heading down the wrong path and abandoning its core values. Many of the newer employees out of college didn't possess the same level of skills as new college hires of the past and had a sense of entitlement too. Given that Intel continued down the same misguided path after I left and is now suffering with layoffs, I wonder if the mood inside Intel is similar to what this Youtuber captures re: Facebook/Meta employees.

Long timer who has retired here.

It's not the fault of the kids for being hired without the proper skills for the job, but it's the failure of the people forcing the hiring practices.

I don't see that much laziness or entitlement (there are always a few and always have been), but by and large they want to do a good job, but have been set up for failure. I HAVE seen some of them crying because they come to understand that they just can't perform well because they don't have the education, experience, or even communication skills needed to succeed in their position. Hiring them to watch them fail does a disservice to everyone , but most of all to the one struggling through it.

I'm sorry to say I don't see much likelihood of success for the company until it's run by people that know how to make products that people want to buy. I would never advise anyone to go to work for a manufacturing company that's run by salesmen, accountants, and crusaders.

Makes total sense to blame the employees with the least experience and influence for the collapse of a tech monopoly that turned into a dinosaur. It's not like that hasn't been happening for 50 years now to industrial firms like Bell Labs, Westinghouse, GE, Kodak, IBM, etc. as part of a larger process of deinstrialization and financialization. It's definitely the damn kids with their pronouns and purple hair.

Mood is similar, but not as bad. I haven't witnessed any fellow employees crying, but morale among some is pretty low. BTW , I enjoyed the video. Agree that some folks are due for a rude awakening when Reality shows up.

Snowflakes ruin everything. They want to change Intel’s old methodology that started to rot under PO, and was left to further decay by BK and RK. They want better working conditions so they can focus on doing their jobs. Back in my day, if you wanted recognition you fought for it…sometimes na--d in a pit. Nothing gives you the gumption to build a CPU like bare-knuckle hand to hand combat. Back in my day, you made PE by not flinching a muscle as they shove a watermelon up your b-m. That’ll make a man out of you!
