Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Enterprise Risk Management is a Mess

Department has been restructured so many times over the past 2-3 years that no one knows what they are doing. Sure, there are parts of the org that work, but most of it is a bunch of Directors trying to make their VPs happy and either running with any comment they make (regardless if if makes sense) or make up projects. There are no clear and consistent voices. The department primarily just asks people for information and make slide decks (to demonstrate work). Slide decks change so often that teams below never know how long current important reporting items will last. Operational risk management is the worst of the group. The team has lost over 50% of its people last 2 years, can't figure out what it is supposed to do, has little respect of management, consistently tries to tell management what they are doing (since it changes so often) instead of actually creating value.

Allstate nice - nice to your face and not behind your back - very passive aggressive Company is trying to transform but struggles to get out of its own way So much red tape and 'work' through power points Executives out of touch with their impact and no one challenges, which leads to frequent fire drills or change of direction based on random comments

That dept is being dissolved by Allstate since none of the vendors want to offer them jobs. I was told this by Emily Hootbooty who works in the Atlanta unit. She looks like a disgusting street walker but knows about risk and her unit.

We recently had to deal with them.

They had no understanding of what they were looking into and were just checking boxes to formulate something.

Complete waste of time and no value.

Most be some regulatory related job that must be on the books

I’m not in that department but have heard similar things about it. I think most of the people on this site answer customer calls so they have no idea what goes on with the home office side. This is a great example of the kind of thing that happens at home office though. People spends millions of hours on decks. Biggest waste of time that amounts to no value for our customers.

Hey…you got a job that isn’t in India. Since you obviously didn’t have skills to give input on the presentation….Go back to work grunt.

I have not heard much better in many other areas. A giant unorganized broken mess all around.

Based on your grammar and thought formulation, you work in this department and are part of the problem
