Thread regarding 3M layoffs

3M Values

Remember when we all had to know those and their spurious examples. I think it has been at least three years since anyone has uttered that phrase and it shows. Sure makes letting 8,500 people go easier. LOL

The april hr townhall should be enuf to know the state of hr, values and all. It was an embarrassment beyond the pale. Catherine coleman, an svp(!!!) could not answer a basic question asked of her and flubbed her way through it. And the meeting eventually deteriorated into a word game. If u haven’t seen it you must! It is telling of the current and future of hr at 3M.

"3M Values" was basically a brand name for the latest HR motivational tool at that time. It was changed to "Leadership Behaviors" or something similar later. It's all the same basic thing, but has to be rebranded and modified in some way to give managers something new to discuss with their reports when giving them average performance ratings.

Shiva,

It's been a lot more than 3 years. I left in 2021 after 30 plus years, but the last time Values came up might have been early in Inges term.

Any of us who worked here in the 80s and even 90s saw 3M as one of the best companies period and best in TC area. Maybe general mills could compete for talent.

The worst part today is usually when a company treats its employees like cr-p, the stock price goes up as the otter and seal on wall street clap for layoffs. Even that isn't working for 3M any more.
