Explorer Recall and Fix is on the Way, Maybe.

Stay tuned Explorer owners, we’re still trying to find a fix. Don’t hold your breath waiting for us to resolve.

Way to go CarCar!

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2020-2023 Ford Explorer SUVs due to an issue with the 360-degree camera.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the 360-degree camera video output may fail, which would prevent the rearview camera issue from displaying.

The hazards: video output failure can lead to a non-functional rear-view camera, which can increase the risk of a crash.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

Components: 360-degree camera and related components.

Affected vehicles: vehicles were not produced in VIN order, but the recalled part was put into production on October 19th, 2018 and was taken out of production on May 2nd, 2023.

Number of vehicles affected: 311,453 vehicles.

The fix: a remedy is currently in development.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on June 26th, 2023. The Ford reference number for this recall is 23S23. This is an expansion and replacement of a prior recall.

It’s a recall if our first recall. All on Farley:

Ford recalls SUVs, some for a 2nd time

Ford is recalling over 422,000 SUVs in the U.S. because the image from the rear camera may not be displayed.

The recall covers certain Ford Explorers and Lincoln Aviators from the 2020 through 2023 model years, as well as 2020 through 2022 Lincoln Corsairs. All have 360-degree cameras.

Some of the vehicles were recalled for the same problem earlier this year, but the remedy didn't work.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says in documents that the lack of a rear camera image can cut visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford says it's working with parts suppliers to identify the cause and develop a repair. Vehicles that were fixed under a January recall will have to be repaired again.
