Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

How do we do it?

How does Cisco manage to remain one of the best companies to work for on nearly every list including the major ones, like the one published by Forbes, when working conditions here have been steadily deteriorating for nearly a decade? How is it done? Do they only interview upper management for stuff like this? Is that Cisco's secret?

Wouldn't that be against the code of business conduct?

Lower level management encouraged and celebrated violating the business code of conduct. Why would higher level management give up on that as they moved up the ranks?

Paying for rankings? Wouldn't that be against the code of business conduct?

Cisco is all about marketing and positioning. Leadership spends a considerable amount of time brainwashing employees that it is a great place to work rather than addressing the reality of a company that is clearly stuck in a layoff culture. Cisco gives people stock options and then takes them away with layoffs which is a huge cost savings for the company! We bring in Execs from other companies just for the great appearance, then layoff dedicated leaders to pay for them. Execs travel the world promoting themselves while people that need to travel can't. Its a company that is more concerned about their outward appearance to shareholders then focusing on employees. Face the reality, Cisco is a great place hold stock, but not a great place to work unless you are in HR. The percentage of people in the HR team is mind-blowing and that alone should tell you something.

—-We never know the truth behind these rankings but its my personal experience that Cisco was the best company that I worked for so far. I left Cisco about a year back but shortly realized the truth. We talk all nonsense about how bad Cisco is doing or whatever but, it’s surely one of the best company to work for.

I feel really sad for you if Cisco is the best company you’ve worked for. It’s by far the worst I’ve ever worked for in my multi-decade career. You really need to look for another job as clearly you are working for truly toxic companies - much better is out there.

For one thing, companies have to pay to be considered for the list. Companies that are actually desirable don’t bother to put in the money and effort

The results are total BS.

There is a page where you can find the metrics they used. Get a load of these numbers:

96% of employees say Cisco is a great place to work.

97% say management is ethical and effective.

97% say people care about each others here.

Seriously these numbers are better than Saddam Hussein’s presidential election results

Not only does Cisco buy these awards, but Chuck and ELT get bonus cash and stock for these silly awards

Because we pay the most to the right companies. It's the same with all the channel chief/people in channel awards.

It's all money.

They pay for those sponsored advertorials. Global Comms & Digital Comms plan that with the publications.
