Thread regarding Gainwell Technologies layoffs

Has Gainwell ever been a good place to work?

I have been part of Gainwell since it became Gainwell. The entire time is has been nothing but constant turmoil, layoffs, stress, and unknown.

All of the employees around me just operate - business as usual. They seem to think everyone else is the problem and that layoffs won’t happen to them.

It really is an interesting culture Gainwell has cooked up. And even with all the issues happening Gainwell wins and is nominated for awards?

They sure have put on an interesting disguise to the outside world.

Awards are bought and paid for to get your company name out there.

HMS staff still refer to themselves as HMS and not Gainwell! And that is one of the major problems that impacts progress.

I agree. Also, senior management says it’s one company, but they are really running two separate companies, with separate management structures, etc. To me, that is one of the more significant problems that impacts progress.

That seems like a fair assessment.

The first year or so looked promising, but the more I see about how things are, it will take a lot to turn the ship around. Since then, a lot of mid-level manager type folks from all the companies making up Gainwell are all focused on cementing their places on the corporate org chart. Meanwhile, projects and accounts run red. It's like they can't get out of their own way. Sad.

Gainwell has never been a good place to work. But at some point all the companies that eventually became GW WERE good places to work. EDS went south in the early 2000s ( the CEO famously blamed his exorbitant salary on his expensive wife). I imagine HMS, Molina and the rest all got bad prior to GW.

With that in mind realize there are a ton of people nearing retirement for which it doesn't make sense to find a new job. They wouldn't be too sad about getting laid off either.

The awards are "bullsh-t" awards. Part of the game.
