Plan for Remote workers

One comment says 90% of remote workers will be gone in three months. Is this true? What's the word on the street?

I still don’t understand why non member contact is required to RTO but member contact can remain remote. Managers need to keep tabs on their teams at home. How many members complain about hearing dogs and kids in background? How many remote member contact say they have having system issues and can’t log in?? Where are the y-cord calls where managers can make the phone rep uncomfortable listening? This is not professional. But you want people who just zoom to come in? Blows my mind who thought of that? Secondly how can member contact get more raises? They just talk to member they aren’t doing real work.

USAA is here to bend over the employees and provide them a taste of the unlubed big blue D

I find it confusing that USAA allows Directors and Lead's to remain full time remote.

Valuing remote work is one thing.

Their actions are there will be no jobs for remote workers to apply to.

I hat happens when P&C makes everyone reapply for their roles again? Ohhhh. Ya. Remote employees won’t meet the job requirements.

So when Bank goes and makes risk folks reapply for their roles at the end of the summer and it’s only hybrid roles left. They aren’t firing you. You don’t meet job requirements anymore. No severance.

I can tell you definitively that remote workers are doomed. It’s not a matter of if but when. You may think you’re safe in your current remote position even if you have no upward mobility. Think again. Remote is all but over at USAA, no matter the promises made to you when you were hired. You can take that to the bank. Just pick a bank other than USAA.

If there's such thing as "remote worker discrimination", it should be similar to age, gender, se-ual orientation discrimination. Maybe it's not yet realized but remote workers are not a protected class. USAA used to have a lot of remote opportunities posted in their career site but not anymore.

I dont understand the previous posters comment anout "plan for it". If this group of knuckle dragging executive haven't made it abundantly clear than you might need to get your eyes and ears checked. You should be polishing your resume and looking for a better place to work than this one. In fact, anyone who has been around banking for any extended amount of time knows you should always have your resume ready. this kind of thing can happen at any point.

Sigh…“A few remote folks who live near an office have started coming in voluntarily because they are afraid” does not sound voluntary. Such difficult and disappointing times. I’ve been through bigger RIFs than this. The CEO at the time was very transparent and spoke publicly about the strategy, the why, the tens of millions cut each year, how to cut costs, and how long it would take to complete the transformation. I really wish our EC would show is the same level as respect and courage to do the same, so we can plan for the iy

@tas Yes, that's what I've heard as well from Amala. Since I am remote, I also asked my manager and confirmed that I am safe, at least for now. My manager also told me that I can apply for other positions in the future and could stay remote as long as the hiring manager allows it.

Half yes and half true. ECIO Q&A Amala said that is not the plan and she values remote just as much. She said most all roles will be tied to a location however if they determine they cannot hire locally then remote will be hired and that we will consider remote and internal before external. Did anyone else hear that ?

Rumor. Exe’s have made it clear with RTO that staying as a remote is not going to play out well. By 2024, I could see a massive drop in people stilling being remote.
