Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

RTO and DEI = Layoffs

Not waiting, looking for another opportunity now, don’t trust current leadership. I don’t fit their discriminatory DEI policy, a layoff is possible any day. Not relocating either other WFH opportunities are available, I’ll take my knowledge and experience elsewhere.

With the exception of C-suite, AT&T doesn’t need DEI, according to US demographics other races are over represented and the white employees are under represented. The alphabet is also over represented, this information was sent to all in an email the last 2 years.

This is going by the DEI model (check the box) not by merit model (business competency and education).

And don’t expect that you can relocate to save yourself. Relocation will be offered to specified positions that will be deemed essential, other positions will be just eliminated. And selection will go further since they expect not everyone will take the offer and move.

I have a different opinion, AT&T is going to get BEAD money from the Feds soon and stock price only went down last year when AT&T missed a financial projection by 2 billion dollars in the 3rd quarter. Result was hiring freeze in alot of orgs a hold on most projects, other words a stop on capital/maintenance spending and now more layoffs. The excuse is blamed on customers not paying their bills on time, what a joke.

Stanky and company promised a 6.5 billion dollar reduction in savings so they are doing everything possible to meet stock market expectations. Employees are an afterthought at this point and the easiest way to reduce expense.

Well, so far the street is not impressed with RTO. T stock is going down and at lowest lever now. Normally layoffs will trigger stock to go up. Nobody believes T can escape bankruptcy. Repo guys are looking for the money T owns. US government will not bail out T. It is a dire situation.

You obviously never read the recent DEI email from the CEO or you would see the facts of discrimination.

Tired of all the drama, constant layoffs, benefit reductions and repeated poor business decisions. Need to reduce my stress level and improve my mental health. Have up to 6 months to find an opportunity with another company, if leadership can be trusted. Too much inconsistency.

Interesting how the narrative went from equality to equity. Definitely civil rights violation. Hiring, promotions and probably layoffs are all affected by this policy.

Only 1.6% of USA workers are relocating these days according to the following CBS article;

Part of Stanky’s plan, he’s counting on flyover states employees to quit since there aren’t any hubs listed in any of those locations.
