Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Here is the unfortunate reality

T can create hub locations, passive aggressively force folks out or have them move to save their jobs. Thing is, a relocation guarantees nothing, zip, nada. The surpluses will continue, repositioning will continue and growth will remain stagnant. Once you open your eyes and realize that T is a very ill company, with little hope to retain most employees in the long term the more clearly you will be able to make a smart carrier choice. There will however always be work at T, but the days of middle class wages or higher are quickly coming to and end. Plan for your next career move and don’t be caught flat footed believing that a relocation buys you any type of job security..it simply doesn’t.

Posted by @blw+1mJ6EqW5. I hope those who are planning to relocate realize this. You are getting no guarantees if you decide to trust this company and Stanky.

The worst part of this besides the lying that Stankey and and Legg spouted less than 2 months ago during a town hall where they said the move to the hubs did not mean anyone would lose their job just that new hires would only be in those areas, is knowing people who are considered low performers that live on the hub areas whose jobs are not at risk. It is so ridiculous to keep people that accomplish at best 50% of what I do because of their zip code. My management and others who know me and who I am referring to says the 50% is to high. The CSO organization is going to be decimated, good luck keeping customer data safe when 50% of your remaining staff are low performers and the others are stretched beyond reasonable limits. CSO can barely cover the work today, losing half the organization will most certainly cause compromise to the systems and reduce customer trust if they have any left and probably be enough to bankrupt the company. The leadership here is incompetent to say the least. Billions and Billions wasted on failed mergers and spin offs, just biding my time to get what I can... There is also a huge shortage of cyber security talent and if they think they are going to replace even 20% of those who leave in just three locations, Dallas, Atlanta, and NJ they really need to look at how many CSO position could not be filled here in the last two years with a nation wide pool to choose from. Good luck....
