Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Tell Dell question

If you give detractor level responses and then are laid off before the results are tabulated and published, will your results not be part of the final tabulation since you are no longer an employee. Makes you wonder. If it is truly anonymous, then I don't see how they could actually do this. If it's not truly anonymous, then I can definitely see this happening. I guess I will find out.

ask your director to show regional stats of who filled out survey

then you'll know who scored you low and you can get rid of them

if they are detractors they don't want to work at dell - help them achieve !

I saw my regional stats and I have a hit list now

so, it would seem asking people what they scored a question on an anonymous poll would be grounds for getting fired. File it under 'bullying in the workplace'

My manager one year, went around asking everyone what they had scored for the question "Would you recommend working at Dell to others" because he had scored poorly, and had a meeting with HR. He also had a meeting with everyone to explain that if he scored poorly on that again, HR would take disciplinary action. He determined who the 4 people were. 2 were overseas, so no direct line of reporting so he explained to them 8 or above please next year. 1 of the people was moved into another team, where he remained up until recently, approximately 6 years..and the other person was Layed off in the February Culling. Nothing Anonymous here

if your manager doesn't conduct one on one's or even talk about things related to personal development, are they worthy of a good score. They're too busy trying to please their senior leaders that we sort of get ignored. In that case, what do you do.

This is true. Managers do look at it seriously as it impacts their performance and might lose their jobs. I've seen managers scored poorly got into coaching plans or HR meetings. If they score low consistently, they may be tagged as low performers and get WFR when the time comes.

I completely agree. Honest feedback is how you can make this company a better place to work. Let your voice counts.

@2rwk+1mMBaqEz Same as. 13 years in now and have gone through a number of Tell Dells and always ask that exact question before answering.

In previous years I was able to sway my own vote towards the positive. This year I leaned towards the negative. My manager isn't the problem I'm just starting to really dislike the culture and some of the people.

What the he-l is wrong with you.

I give honest feedback, and at the point of answering each question ask "is this really that good, or bad". I respect my manager and the company, but will also say straight out what is missing or is good.

My manager asked us to all be straight up and down about it. The only way to make change is to make change.

Im 14 years here now. Im not special, I just do a good job.

In APJK the Managers and Directors have a meeting with staff, to coach them to specifically answer certain questions positively usually a week or 2 before the survey comes out. The question of "would you recommend Dell as a Place to work to friends and family for example, we are told to at least score that an 8, otherwise it has a negative effect on your direct report. In fact, several years ago, our manager told us that if he scored poorly on that specific question again, he could likely lose his job, or have a HR meeting. Meanwhile the problems at Dell, and the reasons I would not advise working there, to friends and family, is more related to the executives above and the behind-the-scenes bean counters who have turned working here more about numbers and less about people and culture. Thankfully I have a new Job and am waiting to sign the new contract before giving my 5 weeks' notice. I'm glad I got to do the Tell Dell one last time, to tell them how much they have well and truly screwed this company up.

either way, my manager has had bad scores for years and nothing has changed. There are meetings to discuss what can be done, but at the end of the day, it's a big goose egg. have no faith in the survey.

Again... a significant lack of knowledge and truth. There is not a single person at Dell that can see names associated with the survey. It would take a criminal threat for a name to be released. Bain is responsible for cNPS surveys, not Tell Dell. The survey is done through https://www.perceptyx.com/.

I work in EMEA and from what I heard from people is they have all scored low for everything.
Moral is always going to be down when you undervalue staff.
Unhappy staff dont sell well and that just doesnt help the situation.
The RTO is also a big talking point.
Forcing hands and trying to call our bluff to reduce headcount.
When the Tell Dell results come back management will then ask why as if its a shock.
It looks like we have already hit the iceberg and we know whats next in that story.
This is just my opinion or course and what I have heard.

@1bsy+1mMBaqEz Sure - your manager may be clouded from seeing who, but HR and Bain aint, and they do the layoffs.

Why on earth would you care about this ridiculous survey? Anonymous my a-s. Its all about a-s kissing at the end of the day. If you don't suck up to your boss and the bullsh-t cult messaging...then you will be targeted, have no doubt. remember who you are dealing with in Dell... absolute bullsh-t and nasty

All of you should ask your manager and director to walk you through their previous Tell Dell. On the website so you can see everything available to them. Your lack of education on the topic is obvious.

  1. Anyone that takes the survey will be included in the results for the manager they reported to on May 1st, regardless of survey status when the report is released.
  2. The report is completely anonymous and gamely by a 3rd party company.
  3. Tell Dell responses cannot drive WFR decisions (because it's anonymous) unless it's the decision to reduce the leader based on poor results.

Educate yourself on how to be impactful with the survey (positively or negatively) in ways that are factual. Not in this forum.

You are so right. I am based in EMEA and the moral, as far as I've seen, is rock bottom. Not much work coming in, teams in fighting, staff stretched thin... Voluntary WFR? Yes please

@hsb+1mMBaqEz So if I give top marks do I get a raise?
If I give low one and two answers am I on a list?
Either way I wont get the raise as Dell wont spend so why worry?

director level and above have GEO information for responses - so depending on your team make up -- THEY KNOW who you are. For this reason I click through my tell dell all 10's -- takes me seconds

You want a raise? Don't be a detractor. This is NOT anony

If there are 5 people in your group, and 4 give perfect scores and 1 gives crummy scores, tell Dell will show that. Then the 4 people and the manager can assume tho provided the crummy scores.
