Sadly, though being in leadership at Verizon and watching how reps take phone calls I see why it is just going overseas. Half of the employees have FMLA for their issues and you cannot count on consistent staffing.

My husband got his notice today as well. Thankful for the severance and that his stress is gone. The yearly roulette game is tough but when the call came it was still a shock.

Lol. Verizon did not pick who was laid off by age. I was in Social Media and they laid off every Social Media representative. Old, young, fetus. The whole U.S. department was laid off. Debt ceiling deadline is around the corner. Why pay someone in the U.S. $67,000 when they can pay someone in another country $200/mo. Good luck finding the insurance Verizon Wireless offers. I was one of the lucky ones that secured another position. Glad I get to stay.

They got bad rap on the last few rifs for targeting people over fifty. Too many were keeping the lights on and they had a brain drain not to mention legal issues. I don't think they'll pull that stunt again.
