Its cheaper to hire new folks in at a lower price and lay off the old slow ones. That's how all the bell boys slipped in years ago.

Same thing happened in Clifton. But none of the newly minted college graduates have stayed with the company. Most left within months after getting hired. So, the veterans were let go, and their replacements quit. That leaves a lot of empty seats at that company, and no qualified people to fill them. Numbers don't lie. Take a look at the company's performance since this has happened. Space and Airborne systems is discreetly reaching out to certain retired employees, begging them to come back as per diem consultants. So, sure! Come back as a part-time consultant for a hundred bucks an hour. Take their money until there's none left.

At least 5 of the laid off employees were within 1 or 2 years away from retirement. They were all high-performing and consequently high-earning people. Then, the VERY NEXT day, L3 posted new requisitions for many of the same positions and are actively recruiting people on LinkedIn and other sites right now. Those jobs are NOT being eliminated, they are just going after cheaper replacements. Would not be surprised if an age-discrimination class-action lawsuit is already being started.

The true number is closer to 50. There was no logical reason to the RIF as many of those impacted by the RIF were top performers and did excellent work. Not good work. Excellent work. Some of those were partners and spouses. A couple of years ago L3Harris brass was literally begging for people to recommend their friends and family to work at the company. Last week those couples lost both their jobs. There were entire areas that were left with just a single person responsible for the remaining work load. That should scare anyone worth their salt away for ever working for L3Harris. The word on the street is that that a major corporate restructuring with mass layoffs is imminent. The good news is competitors will now have some outstanding employees that are very highly motivated to defeat L3Harris in the marketplace arena.

Thank you Sleepless in Waco! I want to start a family, have job security, and don't want to be worried about getting fired right out of college. This has me really freaking out! I have an interview next week that I was going to blow off but I'm really hoping that goes well now. I wish everything goes well for everyone in Waco!

BearClawz you're here already. Just keep your resume ready, and always be looking for better opportunities. Used to be longevity meant something, now it's fire the 10-16 year ppl so they can bring in young minds way cheaper. They're all the same so bounce companies find a place in West Tx to split the drive between Waco and Dallas and you should be good.

Did this really happen!?! I just graduated, accepted an engineering position, and start there in 2 weeks. Should I be worried?

Lost too many good smart people that had a vast knowledge of the programs. Bumpy road ahead
