Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Best decision I've ever made in my life

Was to take a huge 1-year VSP payout when I checked out from this $hitty blue company back in 2016, liquidate all my remaining RSUs and SPPs, and invest them all in mostly NVDA and AMD stock as a big middle finger and F U to BK and Intel. These past 6 years have been awesome, life is good!

over 20 years with the company, got CPM package, exited in March 23. Nice package. Not as good as ACT back in 2015/2016. Unfortunately I held on to a bunch of RSUs that are withering away to nothingness. Guess I can use INTC as long term losses for my taxes.

I left with a 1 year package in December and haven't looked back. Waiting around for 3 years during Covid until packages were available and I registered on the CPM portal the day it opened. I have a few friends who left with awesome packages in 2016 and they never looked back either. If you can find another job or afford to leave, it's definitely better on the outside. I loved Intel and will never buy an AMD CPU as the company did a lot for me over the years, but it turned into a cr-p job with the wokeness (I'm liberal, but the woke priorities in hiring really got to me after having several friends tell me they had to hire a diverse candidate and couldn't hire me). I heard from a VP friend that a lot of the diversity hiring is so that Intel can qualify for government contracts that require workforce diversity. His example was in the HPC space, but I think it's broader than that.

I did nearly the same thing and made more on my investments in 3 years versus my 16+ working at Intel. My life is great - immensely better now. GLTA.

I wish I had taken VSP back in 2016. Sure was a nice package compared to the lunch money we were just promised lol

Funny you are still here 7 years later belly aching and upset you made a bad decision. "It was so bad, I am going to fixate on Intel in all my waking hours because it was such a great life decision."

I left a company over a decade ago, I never go stalk them online. I have no idea how they are doing and don't care. The fact that so many of you care so much shows how disappointed in yourselves you truly are.

If you put a frog in water and turn up the heat slowly... the frog doesn't notice and boils to death.

In the same way, people inside Intel don't realize how bad the environment is until the get out of the pot. Once they get out of the pot, they say 'gee, I feel so much better now'.

Couldn't agree more, I would bet that the vast majority of the 12,000 or so people who voluntarily left in 2016 all feel the same way. Really awesome separation packages and the realization that life is much better outside. Current Intel employees should be heading for the doors in as fast as possible.
