You don't have a choice! You are going to be TOLD your designation hub. If you don't like it, your only option is to leave the company.

Atlanta is a hub because Jeremy Legg does not want to move to Dallas.

How much of wireless is still in Atlanta? I thought that was the driver to make ATL a HUB.

MT NJ is not nice. Traffic is horrible, the building is not in good shape, nor clean.

If you're interested in long term employment, there is only one location that is safe "Dallas" (those in non-market/customer facing). All HUBS (except Dallas/Atlanta) will be phased out over the next 3 years. Ouch, this one is going to leave a mark.

All roads lead to Dallas, because that’s the city SBC made HQ after they bought T in 2005. The next company that buys T may have a different city in mind. Don’t put all your eggs in Dallas long term.

Hubs outside of Dallas and Atlanta will be phased out beginning in 2025. The only reason Atlanta is staying is because of Jeremy Legg. Once he leaves/retires Atlanta will go away. All roads lead to Dallas. If you are looking to move, Dallas should be your first choice

NJ is nice! Both buildings are in nice areas. Plenty of free parking. I will agree the cost of living is high, my property tax is over $16k and that’s average. Check the salary ranges on some jobs in career path, NJ is zone N3

Dallas and Atlanta are the real options. However, it’s really dependent on where most of your team is located. If most of your team is in NJ, then very likely NJ is where the job will be. There will be some remote positions, but they’ve already stated less than 10% and even then that will have to get approved by very senior level. Good luck with that unless you’re a rock star that does something unique that they can’t do without. Of course there will always be exceptions for the favorite chosen ones, they already know who they are though.

Before considering NJ, do your research on the cost of living. With no company relo, to offset setup and transition costs, it can be very expensive. If NJ is in a different pay band from your state now, find out if you will be getting either a pay bump (or a decrease if your state now is ranked higher). If you work in NY and live in NJ, you pay NY and NJ state income taxes. NJ property takes are sky high, as is the state income tax rate (last I read NJ was 4th from the top). And when you register your car, no matter what the year, you pay sales tax again on the purchase price. As expected, auto insurance is also very high, unless you can get on a policy where the main holder is military.

No one will be assigned to NJ if you’re not already there. You don’t get to pick where you get assigned to. For ATS org there is something called “Community of Interest”. It’s either on HR or Insider, ask your coworkers, it’s part of a document called ‘Where will my job be in the future’ and most departments will eventually be consolidated to Atlanta or Dallas, there are only a few exceptions for Seattle and NJ.

Except for LA, none of these hub cities will attract top talents. AT&T is doomed to be a mediocre company at best.

Middletown can handle a ton of people. Nice campus. Good towns close by. Best hub there is. Dallas is not a fun place to live. Enjoy that.

Don't think they can get rid of DC. Everything else past those 3 are gone though eventually.

From a relocation standpoint Dallas is queen of the pigs - who would ever ever think of relocating to Jersey!!!!!

Even if they were to be sent to one of the NJ locations, there simply isn't enough room. Bedminster new location only accommodates for 700 people. There are about 2000+ folks there.
