With all the attrition, are mgrs losing their titles (if not their jobs) due to direct reports below minimum?

You don’t have to have a brain to be a manager here
Spans & layers has been going on for years. From what I've seen, the worthless middle managers just get moved around like a hot potato, either as an IC or "manager" with 20+ contractors "reporting" to them, when it's just to sign timesheets. What a place.
Don’t worry. Spans and Layers will make a return. It’s all phased.
S&Ls does not inlcude I&P so sometimes in TW you will only see 2-3 US people but they have multiples in India.
Spans and layers are definitely coming up again in CIB. It did not hit all of our businesses equally, which was never understood by us. There are sr. Managers with no direct reports and some directors with zero or just one or two. If they are going to do this, then apply it equally across all the business groups.
The great smash down. They have way to many mid managers here.
in most cases there are equivalent IC roles (from a pay standpoint) they would move them into.
How is it a demotion? They keep the salary but no longer have to manage people. Sounds like less work for the same money.
I observed that a few lower managers lost their titles (but kept their salaries). Higher up managers shuffled around direct reports in order to keep their jobs. In our LOB, Spans and Layers accomplished nothing more than a nonsensical confusing structure.
There Snr Managers in WIM with no directs. There are directors in WIM with 1-2 total reports. The management bloat is still alive and well.
Wells was and still appears to be the most confusing place to work. I would not recommend it to anyone as a place to have a career at. The only people I saw get promoted at Wells did not deserve it.
My
Manager used to have 12 people and now has 3 and still has a job!
