Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

This is what too many layoffs lead to

We’ve had a staggering number of re-orgs (layoffs) in the last decade, at least by historic Nike standards.

The problem with layoffs is effective employees leave and bad employees float up like a tu-d.

It feels like no one knows what’s going on because almost no one left knows what’s going on or how to do their job

Exactly this, as posted here @1cmv+1msLUw5d.

When Nike has to resort to putting
m o r o n s in charge of innovation and design and has retained the fossilized leadership of their sports research lab the outcome is predictable. There have been zero substantive innovations-just windows dressing. Purge the t u r d s and bring back the pirates and risk takers.

Like the thread about JD using the company jet to go play golf at Augusta? Most frequent flight of the company jet which is publically available info?

HR actively monitors these threads and removes as much “problematic” (in their eyes) content as much as possible.

They do this by derailing threads or starting new spicier posts (that don’t touch on their department’s failures or the failures of a chosen few favored individuals in leadership)

Wtf does hr have to do with this. Are you saying hr is posting trolling maga cr-p? Or hr is replying to the trolls asking them to knock it off. Neither makes sense.

Derailing these threads.

Whoops

HR is getting better at detailing these threads.

Their department is half the reason we have such bad turnover without any good backfill.

Nike was “woke” in 2021, too. Please just find another board to troll, or even better, an actual hobby.

@@5ijx+1mOwJqvx Ignorance is bliss isn't it? LOL! If @5bqs+1mOwJqvx is the "Maga Troll," how do you define yourself. The "Broke Troll?" Have you cashed out your options yet or are they worthless? Or did you go stock grants? No capital gains there either, uh?

I'll leave you with this:

11/4/2021 NKE Stock Price = $175.44. An. All. Time. High.
Today's NKE Stock Price = $103.63.

But let's keep doing what we're doing! WOO HOO!

But hey, those crazy MAGA folks......

The devil works hard, but the MAGA troll stalking the Nike layoff board works harder 🙄 😂

@5bqs so tired of seeing this, it’s such BS

This is what happens when you focus on WOKE BS at the expense of building shareholder value. We've taken our foot off the gas and now we're reaping what we sow. We need to start pushing back on what this company has become. Clearly, it's not working. If you deny it, then you're just kidding yourselves. If people aren't buying your product because you've become divisive due to becoming a political organization, the only direction will be to the bottom.

That Business Insider article mentioned that On Running grew by 55% last year and surpassed $1B in sales.

Nike needs to watch its back. I’ve tried On shoes for my five milers and will be the first to admit they’re really good. Great bounce, arch and pronation support. In past decades people bought Nike running shoes just because they were Nike shoes. I’m not sure how much longer the strength of the brand will be able to stop competitors that are now actually making really good shoes themselves.

Hahahaha!!! I quit 5 years ago because I wasn’t paid equitably for many, many years on top of being paid below the minimum for my last couple of positions. I know EXACTLY what problems arise with inventory visibility and how if you don’t understand how SAP works between functions (like the purchasing function, and available inventory and overbuying not to mention over selling!!!!)

Anyway, seeing leaders on LinkedIn espouse how they’re such great leaders and coaches and oh so many unleashers of potential and buzzword buzzwords BINGO! These a--hats let me be underpaid on their watch and they are the a--hats left sinking the ship. I already sold my stock.

If you're friends with any VP in Nike, ask them to tell you about a letter that JD narrated to them in a recent meeting,

I left on my own over 2 years ago after spending 7 years at Nike. I simply did not believe that Nike was heading in a good and sustainable direction, too many mistakes, lack of transparency, wrong people promoted in several areas, lack of innovation, lack of trust, etc. It was a difficult to decision to make and I though it through for a while. I am so happy that I made that decision. You are not stuck! Trust your instincts and do what is best for you, now.

An article was published on Business Insider today saying that between 2020 and now several of Nike’s best people have either been let go or simply left on their own. And now that attrition is being felt as a whole bunch of institutional knowledge disappeared. Possibly validating the “Peak Nike” theory which says Nike’s future won’t be as dynamic as its past. Already feels like it to me too.

In this recent round of Prgm Mngr layoffs, some of those were the right choices.
