With pip season about to kick off, are dual career folks safe from pip?
Usually 1 of the 2 is a hi-po and the other ain’t worth a phuc.
Does the company exempt these people?

No. If you were social and knew more coworkers that would be obvious. It usually results in a divorce or both leaving. If divorce, the one who stays often ends up marrying an EM person!
There used to be some nightmare of dual career power couples in gas and power.
In the past; maybe but not anymore. Seen lots of people in dual careers getting PIP or let go off. It must be a tough decision for the other remaining employee to stay after all of the chaos that is EM.

Rather odd to fixate on the age of someone else’s spouse. You must not have much to do at work.
I have seen on several occasions when positions were created for the trailing spouse.
I've seen a trailing spouse get the layoff back 21.
It used to be the case, but that all changed since the layoff. Dual career was not a factor and I know of a couple of marries couples where one was laid off and not the other.
I know several incidents of dual couples where 1 was PIP’d and the other retained.
Well in the past few cycles dual career couples have not been exempted. Personally know of at least one instance where one spouse was let go. Not sure it was labeled PIP or layoff reduction but not sure that matters
EM uses always the tactic to hire husband and wife. It is one system to control both person.
I could never understand why anyone would want to work at the same company as their spouse. Ultimately they are married with handcuffs to the company.
There is no reason why EM should be hiring and retaining a trailing spouse unless that person can contribute in some positive way to the organization. The case I’ve seen is the trailing spouse had shaky credentials to begin with and was about to be fired from former employer anyways. There was no screening or verification of skills whatsoever. The person wrecked havoc on everything she touched, but these incidents were mysteriously swept under the rug and she was bounced around into new roles ever 2 years.
A business is not a charity. It would be better for trailing spouse to find another job with another company than to live this sham. It’s a scary situation when under qualified people think they are strategist and dole out id--tic advice. I just hope they never put person near an operating unit because somebody is going to get hurt.
It’s a losing situation when trailing spouses are retained when more qualified employees were let go or not put in the right roles because games of nepotisms are played.
Haven’t met a single trailing spouse that seemed happy with their lot at ExxonMobil. It is an unkind choice to put on a couple, and then trailing spouse has to relive it every day when they show up to work. Anyway, it’s already a cr-ppy situation. I’m not going to fault them if they are spared pip.
