Forced ranking would be much more tolerable without the corruption.

Id--ts with sponsors get top ranking.

HR moves up minorities after ranking. HR Manager told me this after one of my direct reports ended up the highest of my group after rank session put him in middle.

Age discrimination leads to top performers over 60 to be placed at bottom, below all the young people that they outperformed.

VPs intimidate rank meeting attendees such that nobody will argue against the placement of their sponsored chosen ones.

Major letdown. Definitely not as hot as the last one.

I think all of us had trouble adjusting to forced ranking when we first joined the company, since we were used to getting 90s or better. I’d suggest the PADP system, on paper, works. It’s a huge adjustment to understand/accept a 50 is not awful but rather is average among a competitive peer group. The problem is management that doesn’t fairly and honestly rank their own people across the full seriatim. Or that doesn’t give a fair ranking due to a hidden agenda such as unjustly wanting someone pushed out when their work doesn’t support that I’m sure many will attack my view. Si be it
Management corruption of ANY process will inevitably occur

The only policy that has improved since I joined the company 10+ years ago is the PPTO policy for dads after a baby comes. Everything else has either gotten worse or stayed the same.

Not a chance of her marking a change that’s positive for employees. All the changes in the last couple of years are negative, very negative!

  • hot desking
  • 401k discontinuance during Covid
  • insurance worse
  • cheaper toilet paper. Ouch!
  • return to office rules. Lost lots of people in different locations.
  • shipment of jobs overseas
  • vacation policy change to prorate
  • forced ranking!!! We’ve lost lots of good people
  • try and print something. It’s infuriating.
  • helpless desk. It’s awful, no matter how fantastic our clueless executives think it has become. They need to try contacting them from my desk.

I’m sure of other things, these are just off the top of my head and tomorrow will bring more awful things.

New HR VP equals more of the same; implement McKenzie strategy to offshore and PIP in HC10. If anything, she will probably accelerate the process…

Got inside information that the new VP of HR is not a fan of forced ranking and told DW that she would only take the job if she could get rid of forced ranking, DW agreed with her. Also, she is going to give all employees a one time 20% bonus to make up for the loss of 401(k) match, and a raise equal to two points above the increase in inflation. Also doing away with hot desking, allow all employees to work from home all the time, and increasing benefits with lower cost to employees. She said, “Employes are our most important asset and happy employees are more productive and innovative and are the key to ExxonMobil’s continued success.” Hang in there everyone, ExxonMobil will be an even better place to work.

It is amazing that the company accepted all the bad press of nsi instead of laying off employees with a decent severance package like shell and chevron

She was in TGs group 0 chance. This position would have been better as an external hire

The new VP was appointed to accelerate the offshoring and shutdown of high-coat locations.

If anything, the change is for the worst and not for the better.

Their decision to NOT bring in an outsider is quite deliberate. It's likely an outsider would be like "WTF are you all fu----g stupid?"

No. The new VP will not have the authority to change the system.

The good news is that the new VP may be able to migrate the least productive and unqualified personal favorites of the previous VP to some other organization in ExxonMobil.
