Or will they think it’s fine what a mess the Union Bank transaction has been due to outsourcing the IT department to countries that don’t even know the different between a 5 and 4 digit PIN?

We have screwed up Agile and it has passed its time . As for offshoring, it does take a bit more energy and a different type of management. We have mismanaged a lot. We need to bring in A players instead of the junior varsity leaders we have today.
What board?
Board of directors that is composed of professional board members?
Could use a good banker on the board these days.
@ the person that mentioned proofreading to fix India issues. I was in the exact same position. I often told my bosses it would be faster just for us to do the work ourselves than the back and forth going on. I was always shut down because nobody wants anyone higher up the ladder to see what a mess the vendors have made of operations. They are purposely hiding the fact that vendors cannot do the jobs so the C-Suite people who approved the outsourcing never have to answer for what a disaster it’s become.
Off shore works for lots of companies but every decision the bank management makes is wrong. They are 20+ years late to both Agile and off shore. Both are a mess and will continue to be a mess.
Offshoring IT, product, and agile is such a mess. They even tried to offshore UX content to India and it was a disaster. They immediately backtracked once they realized that it took more effort to proof read and fix their issues. It was so embarrassing that they just removed the India based content strategists and there was no announcement about it. The offshore engineers do not engage or participate in meetings. One team had three proxy hires back to back - like their roommate was responding and coding on their behalf (didn’t mute). Literally, won’t even talk unless it’s their one minute turn to bring an update in stand up. Absolute disaster. They would realize the impact of this decision if they had the courage to run a survey across the organization about whether offshoring is working.
It's fine. The offshore company provides the board and c suite with plausible deniability. And you are there to clean up the mess.
