Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Last of June sounds about right for the layoffs across the board. Ford Credit anyway.

Why do you care 5oia ? While it might appear that some long term employees are getting paid handsomely to retire, in some cases they are clipping people just before they hit pension gates so Ford is saving major $.

Where is the uproar about Kiersten’s “retirement” package? Does she deserve a package 84 times the average size of others with same length of service?

@qjq you won’t get a straight answer on questions like that. They might not be allowed to say or it might be above their pay grade.
In 2008 a coworker believed the LL6 and LL5 that he was safe, that the area was not impacted. He closed on a new expensive house, two weeks later he was laid off from Ford. He couldn’t find any jobs locally. Eventually he took a job in the DC area and lived in a one bedroom apartment away from his family for 6 years until he could find a job in Metro Detroit again. Later when the LL5 was no longer at Ford it came to light that he knew the coworker was going to be cut, he had put his name on the list.

I'm also leaving voluntarily at the end of August. I haven't said anything as I'm not sure if I hurt my chances on getting any voluntary separation package (which I know is a long shot to begin with).
86 days until I turn in my badge but it's not like im counting 🙃

@qjq - I can think of 2 reasons. 1. They are LL6 and below and are unaware. 2. They are LL5 and above and have signed an NDA.

I’m leaving voluntarily for a new career in a couple months, so I asked my boss if there were any plans in this area. There was no reason for them to be coy about it… they said no plans right now. Have also not seen anything in the dashboards that indicate immediate involuntary separations; if anything, Credit is hiring up for a Tech Modernization initiative.

I'm still surprised nothing mentioned yet.... surely these "$1.5-$2 billion operational efficiency" cuts have to be announced sooner than later?
