Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Starting asking WHO…stop with the IF or WHEN. August WFR happening.

Record profits…so let’s ruin some families. Dell isn’t a tech company its core business is financial manipulation of corporate debt. We return to office and wait for pink slips while ELT works from their summer home. Unionize now, someone have a way to get this going?

I’ve applied to about 6-7 roles in the past 3 weeks and have had 2 interviews already, so I’m definitely finding opportunities out there. Lots of postings out there for non-tech industry roles, but it’s not like Dell is actually very “tech” at this point.

In my 6 years here I’ve never seen morale and leadership so bad. My last 3 VPs all raised their hands in the Feb layoff and took big severances. Sr Directors are all nervous so the rest of us feel it.

I do know that Directors were asked to submit two layoff scenarios, a 10% cut and a 15% cut, back in December. So they were surprised when it was only 5%. Common thought is that the next 5-10% of those plans will happen if performance continues to be rough

I agree 100% with the last comments here. My manager said something very similar about showcasing talents and being seen. And I’ve overheard some pretty uncomfortable conversations back “in the office”. Feeling pretty confident that I’m on the next list, and I’m considered a “high performer”.

I’m just ready to rip the band aid off. I’m really sick of worrying about the next WFR and even if I survive this one, it will just be a short while until I start worrying about the next one.

I’m looking for new opportunities but there’s not a lot out there that hundreds aren’t already applying to. Just feeling sad and stressed.

Just from a conversation a few days back with my manager I would be shocked if there weren't significant layoffs in August. A lot of the discussion was prepping people for bad news with uncertainty, flux and economic climate the orders of the day.

Surprise surprise there was also talk of everyone needing to showcase their talents to the best of their ability. Forget that some people are already overworked. I think leadership might be surprised at just how many would take a severance package if asked to put their hand up but instead the offer on the table is to work even harder with no financial gain on the horizon.

Play it again, Sam.

The racist and s-xist trolls seem to be permeating every type of message board. Hey straight white males. Your lock on entitlement in most of the world is still intact. Relax. This site is about layoff rumors. Not your delicate egos.

I guess it's time to start identifying as a woman and be part of the new 'in crowd'.

I have to finalize my list next week. It's a horrible time here. I want to be inspired and inspiring, but can't. My team is great and not worthy of mindless / unexplained reductions.

Btw Dell, there will always be a question of future performance. Please stop talking of progressing mankind
while Jeff smirks and talks corny t-shirts while at the same time saying business is bad and we continue to fire people. I get how this helps with the 2030 moonshot goal "By 2030, 50% of our global workforce and 40% of our global people leaders will be those who identify as women." But there are good men at this company as well and shouldn't be thrown out and replaced. Some of us worked very hard in our careers as well as the underrepresented.

Total guess by the last of when we bought EMC. Overlay speciality sales, DPS, UDS etc gets cut hard. SA’s anything outside the good old fashioned Dell “core four”.

Oh channel related speciality teams.

What area is the obvious choice?
Would like to know peoples opinion on this.
Very hard to know who they will cut but my money is on any external staff that Dell think they can get rid of.
Its anyones guess.
Oh and im not ex staff or angry I just have bills to pay and like everyone else a bit worried.

I work in EMEA sales and while it is more draining every day I just dont see more cuts.
Trying to get in contact with any teams is a job in itself as so many are gone so if more cuts happen who will we have?
