Ford Dealer Inventory Staggering

Posted on Cars.com for dealers to unload new cars/trucks. Alarming inventory on Farley’s list of popular models.

F-150. 59,285
Explorer 19,843
Bronco Sport 11,406
Edge 9,256
Mustang 5,562
Bronco 4,420
Mach-E 1,764
Lightning 1,142

Remember many of these were customer orders only.

Storm cloud on the horizon.

5wqu We all know that there will be discounting required to move the inventory.
A double hit on profits. First the cost for holding the inventory, then the inevitable discounts. And lets not forget the yet to come warrantee work.

Lol @last poster. It competitors can't keep them on the lots. No one is buying Ford vehicles anymore.

Bye bye Ford thanks to CarCar.

Don't be clueless. Having inventory of desirable vehicles on-hand is a good thing. When the economy starts booming again soon like it always does, Ford will be in an advantageous position.

I read Ford gifted a new Lightning to the Humane Society, my first thought was, well they have plenty of them, at least they can write off the donation.

I want a Ford Mustang with a life sized picture of CarCar in his racing gear plastered on the hood. The dealer can charge 10K for that feature.

Ford NA sales for 1Q, 2023 were 456,972 units. Roughly 1 month of sales available on the internet. How many were customer ordered and not delivered is the real question at hand.

Those are not big numbers given sales volumes and the fact that these are spread among nearly 3,000 Ford dealers in the US.

How many vehicles are we still holding for chips? Build them and customers will come! Looks like we miscalculated customer demand by a bunch.

Really of laying off thousands. They have laid off about 5000 in the last year. Plus those let go in 2009. That's 50000-100000, including friends and family, that will never buy another Ford again. Numbers Ford could ill afford considering that most of their sales are employees and friends and family.

This company will be bankrupt, sold or both in another 3 years maximum.

This data is missing context. How do we know our competitors aren't having the same inventory adjustments?
