so, there are 3 kinds of managers, i have worked with .
- One who are extremely sharp and brilliant -> lucky to have them as your manager.
- Cant think by themselves - but support you and can give valid inputs
- Cant understand what they are managing but trust their people - support you in bigger forums and give you the respect you need.
Unfortunately there is a 4th kind cropping up that is extension of (c)
Cant understand anything, but will make the decisions for you, take credit for it and make you suffer to make it work.
