Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Can we stop applauding our "leaders" in the town hall meetings

I wonder why we applaud them and clap our hands in these town hall meetings.

Senior Management have zero ethics, accountibility, or respect.

Can we stop applauding them in future town hall meetings to send a symbolic message from the commoners in 3M who lives have now been ruined.

They were doing the wave in one of the sessions?

Probably because applauding is preferred over or-l in a public forum.

Will they be applauding when HR hands them their termination?

I agree that applause is quite discordant in this situation. I have a recommendation, though. Typically, the audience composition is highly biased towards managers, and the technical folks stay away because it's perceived as a waste of time. I would argue that every single non-manager should show up, to the point that the room is standing-room only. This, combined with a healthy dose of hard (uncensored) questions and non-applause would send a lot clearer message of our displeasure than vaguely reworded softball questions and an audience of bootlickers.

It is a reflection of the mediocrity of 3M employees now. They applaud to the master who do not respect them. It is a sign of the end of this company.

Those are spineless people. Too scared to ask real question but ready to laugh with Mike for his stupid take of tough online questions.

Yes we can.

If we can stop being the proverbian Pavlovian dog and stop clapping, that will be good. There is nothing to clap about when the announcement is about someone that we know whose life is about to get ruined big time.

Applauding for what?
For ruining a great company?
For failing shareholders?
For laying us off?
Ironically, they applause with smile

Yep, I saw middle level managers clapping away to glory in the town halls today.

Such shameless schyophants !

I've debated this in my own head for quite a while.
Just sticking to the 5-5-5-3 series of rapid claps for now, about 6 seconds worth.

My only other option - to chuckle, boo and whistle in the middle of the presentations.
I keep that in my head.

Only the brownnosers applaud. They want their managers to see they are on management’s side.
