Thread regarding 3M layoffs

CG, New SIBG Group Pres —

Given all the threads asking for changes in leadership, I thought I’d take a moment to share my confidence in CG moving into the new SIBG Group President role.

In many direct and indirect situations I’ve found CG to be a very thoughtful and strategic leader.

He’s a round table guy, the kind of leader that eats last. Down to earth, communicates directly, challenges the status quo, and consistent with priorities.

I’m not saying we’re out of the woods, but his move to that role is the reason that I’ll stay with 3M for awhile longer.

(IMO I’d prefer to see someone other than MV replace MR. I think MR is responsible for more immediate issues then people realize…)

In the range of crimes, booking a chair with a towel (which must be an acceptable practice at that resort or the towels would have been removed) seems a fair trade for a smart, strategic leader. If he can get SIBG growth up, I’ll save the chair for him myself.

Cancun trip? Reminds me of how all of DMSD got to go to Maui in 2018, while nobody from FMSCO got invited.

Character-wise though? I once saw him (CG) do something I found to be so illustrative of his arrogance and lack of humanity. We were on an incentive trip to Cancun that maybe 1000 people went on to thank them for their role in one of the SAP releases. Lovely resort, great experience, the last time anything like that happened at 3M in my experience. The beach was pretty crowded and there were a limited number of sunshades. I watched CG and his wife come out of the hotel, 'reserve' a shade by putting their towels over the seats, and without stopping go off for a walk. They came back at least an hour or two later, picked up the towels without sitting down, and walked off. I felt like puking. I had seen this same arrogance in meetings but seeing it so up front like this just rubbed in how people like this think about others.

Why wouldn't anyone want to join this company in a C-suite role? You get to make many millions despite being entirely incompetent and are not held accountable for anything. You get to ruin people's lives and pretend like you care, while drying your tears with hundred-dollar bills. I don't see any downsides. The bar is also apparently not that high to get that level of job here, considering they hired Tireman and Monish, who are both laughing all the way to the bank.

Looking from the outside in, can't think why ANYONE would want to join this company in a C-suite role, health care included....The only likely option for a MR replacement is someone who has been drinking the kool-aid for decades.

Vale will be a disaster for what remains of 3M post-spin.

The man quite literally does not know how to grow a business. He has completely failed to do so in every one of his executive assignments.
