Thread regarding USAA layoffs

I will quit rather than RTO

I know I'm in the minority here, but after WFH and realizing how much more productive I am because I have no distractions while getting several extra hours with my family because I don't have to commute, I don't want to go back. Some companies are looking to the future instead of the past and are still looking for remote employees. I've already started applying. I refuse to go back just because a bunch of managers has to justify their existence by dragging us all back.

Hybrid is worse for women and working parents for work life balance, emotional well-being and inclusion. So much for DE&I.

Wayne and the BOD want you to leave. Saves a ton of money in severance. They finally wised up and are using RTO as a tool to lower headcount and then those who don’t adhere will get corrective action which also affects bonus payouts. Genius business move if you ask me.

You’d no longer meet job requirements. No severance

So if you refuse to come in starting in September, you'd have to be fired, right? Would you still get severance in that case? It would be great if everyone just broke the rules, thus forcing costs to skyrocket that way

Alright folks, I am excited and relieved to find out that there are actually A LOT of remote jobs out there. I am going to submit. Many in my huge subdivision are still working remotely, as far as I can tell, so hopefully the remote work is still here to stay and it's now the new normal for many. It's better productivity for me than lots of hours in the traffic and well, fixing my hair.

I'll put in my two weeks too if exception isn't granted for a legit medical reason.

I'm not even affected yet by the RTO but overall, the decision made the last few years have also confirmed that I no longer believe in this organization.

Yep, they are getting their wish of attrition. I’m applying out also despite getting an exception. The decisions during the last couple years confirmed this is not a company I want to work for.

That's exactly what I did last year when RTO was first announced. As soon as it became obvious that the "exceptions" were going to be rare, I started applying elsewhere. Started with another carrier, fully remote, $3500 pay bump, with less work. Best decision I've ever made. Just wish I had convinced more people to leave with me.

Same, I accepted a full remote job offer today. I feel relieved. Good luck on your job search.
