RTO or not

Is there going to be an official and mandatory RTO or not

I have connected worker status so I don't see how I can be made go in more than once a week

we have a bunch of vax deniers in the forum.
Covid is still a threat despite what Fox news says
I do not want to be in a shared office with magats and science deniers

I don’t know why we keep harping on DEI and white male privilege. The obvious privilege in the last few years is white collar privilege. Justifying not going to the office because of Covid? How narcissistic. What do you think of the entire supply chain involving people in close proximity for your UberEats and Amazon deliveries? But as soon as you might have to be around someone, after 3 freaking years of this nonsense, it’s a problem?

Go get jabbed a half dozen more times, maybe you’ll be ok.

Covid is still out there. It has been declining but what happens if it comes back strong in the winter months .People in the office are wearing no masks and some of the Techs are working in close proximity . Its a disaster waiting to happen .

Covid is still out there.

They should be concerned with enforcing soical distancing, masks and vax status. I dont like how they nonchalantly ignore all these health issues and try to force everyone onto shared environment.

It is unhealthy and downright dangerous

Some companies/dept. mandate RTO now, and it's not up to employees to pick which office they go into. It will force some people to quit their job due to relocation, which is an good way to do WFR without giving a severance package.

"why is social distancing and masking not still enforced?"

Yeah you should definitely stay home where you can work in am office alone and wear your mask for safety

Can't they just change company policy and change any remote contracts ?

by
|
Post ID: @1kus+1mlactmW

Yup. keep in mind the buildings and amenities have been really reduced for very reduced remote staff.

Is the campus and building up to code and labor laws for FT housing employees?
I'm still not comfortable with the lack of hygiene in a shared environment post COVID.
why is social distancing and masking not still enforced?

"HR got an email last week forwarded from ELT"

more nonsense from EDs. sigh. you guys are tiresome

HR got an email last week forwarded from ELT that it is happening. It may fizzle out but it’s coming.

by
|
Post ID: @1yhl+1mlactmW

HR will have issue cause it's not company policy
a lot of employees will take issue
who and how will enforce it
then HR will have to get involved for legal liability reasons

by
|
Post ID: @1kmy+1mlactmW

Sort of. There will be some pop and fizz in some departments about it

Then mostly fizz when HR gets wind of it.

I go into 176 occasionally. Most meetings are still on zoom, maybe a staff or planning meeting may be in a conference room, but 95% are still on zoom. Cafeteria is lousy, nowhere near variety it had before. No gym. Most work areas with cubicles have been replaced with open floor plans. Ya, you're not missing much by not coming in. The only things you'd be missing is the lousy traffic.

none of us have designated desks. People have pretty much taken stake of where they sit...but nothing is designated.

The rumor to hit ratio on this site isn't fantastic. There should be 500k employees laid off if you believe what you read on here. If there is a forced return to the office then there's a lot of staff who are now contracted as remote workers that might have a problem with that

by
|
Post ID: @1njs+1mlactmW

Will this affect people with connected worker status ? They don't have a designated desk

"Didnt the RTO happen like a year ago?"

yes. They opened the doors to what was left of an office. No one came running back to work in shared cubes and reduced ameneties.

Now we have some rogue management thinking they can will it to happen by suggestion and fiat. Good luck.

I don't think it's going to happen with how much remote work is promoted.
Layoffs yeah maybe though. But I feel like you could get away with paying less for more experience without RTO. Especially outside of the high income areas.

Michael Dell Chides Return-To-Office CEOs: ‘You’re Doing It Wrong’

O’RYAN JOHNSON

SEPTEMBER 07, 2022, 06:59 PM EDT

‘If you are counting on forced hours spent in a traditional office to create collaboration and provide a feeling of belonging within your organization, you’re doing it wrong,’ Dell says of his fellow tech CEOs mandating office hours.

This is real and it stinks! 2-3 days in the office. I heard official announcement could come as early as early May. This is coming from an L3 and multiple L4s. The ELT is out of touch if they actually do this.

Told from facilities member yes from September

by
|
Post ID: @dor+1mlactmW

IMHO facilities would know since they have to plan for having people in the office, cleaning crews, power, front desk staffed…yada3

by
|
Post ID: @jxo+1mlactmW

My director has heard nothing about it, I doubt a facilities worker would know and a director wouldn't

I talked to a friend in Hopkinton facilities today, and he said "he can neither confirm nor deny". It's definitely coming.

Not. Some rogue management/dirs will suggest to go in. It is not official by any measure.
