Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Next CIO?

what is the word on the street? BB has been in the role for a decade. its probably time for change. none of the GMs are obvious replacements like he was 10 years ago.

MW and EB going external with the next one? or random business leader like they did with the FC and the CDO role?

I don't know about all that, but AI will eliminate the need for BCG and that day will be glorious.

AI will eliminate our need for IT labor within a couple years. You heard it here first.

EB will pick someone from the outside. Book it.

After BB retires, the odds are that NONE of his current direct reports will be CIO. From the level 1 sources... EB and NH are not impressed with any of them, and MKW doesn't even really know who any of them are, other than the fact that IT is a cost and does not run reliably. How many times have we experienced a major outage this year? It's the most basic thing to deliver for IT, and they can't even do that correctly.

I wonder if they will change the title. Something like Chief Unconventional and New Technologies.

CIO is also a fairly modest pay grade, like all IT positions.

AG will get because she plays the female , black card. Simple as that, even though she is d-mb as a rock. KB is rumored also because she is a trophy blonde. CL the CISO wants to make a run for CIO but his fat a-s won’t let him run. Plus he leads IRSM like a dictator behind his cronies TMac , BC and JS. The d-mbest of them all is TG who can’t even spell risk. SH is drinking the CVX kool-aid so don’t be surprised if she tries to make a run for CIO.

CIO is a 2000's dated term from when data, not technology, started to become overwhelming. It has very little value anymore compared to CTO. The only requirement for a Chevron CIO is they can fire up Excel or PowerPoint. Otherwise, it's just a vanity position for people who can't fit in anywhere else in the company.

AG is NOT the right choice behind BB! They truly need to reassess and rethink the position and needs. Me thinks we need more business leadership in that position and technical below it. Hire from outside?? Or take a business leader ( non IT person) and go against the grain?

Will he use the same profile pic until he’s 65?

BB doesn't have a succession plan because he wants work longer. There is no obvious replacement because he's outsmarted everybody, including his current GMs.

waaaaay over due and don't stop there need a shake of the entire upper IT management. Most have been sitting in those position too long with creative title changes about every 2-3 years playing musical chairs. I personally would like to see most replaced

Exec men’s room chatter suggests the roll will be eliminated and split apart into several after BB hits age 65.

I think the only thing the rank and file can agree on is that AG would make a terrible CIO.

Despite needing to go external, they wont and cant because it is so heavily customized. CVX is behind peers and full of home grown architects who can talk and talk and talk some more. AG is the next CIO.
