You have figured out the 2 tier system of rules. All the ethics rules are for us, not them.
I think the company is going to be tone deaf to the damage they effectively did with that stupid "interpretation" to sell to Huawei. Myself and coworkers no longer hold Seagate to a higher ethical standard when they clearly rolled the dice on those sales to the point where they declared it a risk in their filings. They might as well stop with the annual ethics videos and hallway posters while they are run by a cadre of money grubbers who clearly violated their own standards.
Going a step further, any prospective employer may bring up that lack of standard during interviews. Effectively the company screwed their own employees with their tainted business practices. If you are interviewing a choice of several viable candidates, you probably won't pick ones who came from a company run by shady opportunists. The highest levels of management needs to stop with the "dog ate my homework" tale and apologize to their employees. I won't hold my breath.

Who remembers when Seagate Springtown created "Our Future Together" and management promised fairness,honesty,respect.They pledged they would treat everyone the same and be open and transparent in everything that involved employees.There would be no more bullying, no more vindictiveness and everybody would be proud to work for Seagate Springtown. I remember it and I also remember that it would be a crock of sh1t and it would soon be forgotten. And guess what? It was a crock of sh1t and it has been forgotten.

Who put you in charge of how people feel or what they think? What else should one expect from a site called “The Layoff”? It really doesn’t seem that difficult to understand the concept.
Maybe you can find a website devoted to bit@hing about losers who are concerned about being laid off. Seems unlikely ya goof.
