Thread regarding Raytheon Co. layoffs

What’s wrong with the Tucson location?

I’ve been hearing a lot of rumors about people leaving in droves. Is it true? My friend said a particularly bad employee in the department is leaving. Is it a good time to apply? I’m in IT and have been considering applying for the higher pay

Raytheon treats IT like toilet paper. I was an engineer not in IT, but I saw every day they were treated like p-o.

To the original question. A lot of people left beginning in 2020 because of Raytheon being acquired and taking on new management. It's your standard mergers and acquisitions chain of events, where you have consolidation, layoffs, limits to upward mobility for the more junior staff, and limiting of existing pension plans. On top of that, Raytheon was heavy handed with covid restrictions and mandates compared to the other top tier defense companies. Many employees left voluntarily or were fired over vaccine or mask mandates. Prior to 2020 Raytheon and arguably the entire defense industry was struggling to meet hiring goals. Post 2020 events just made things worse

Look at the job postings from Raytheon and what kind of bonuses are being teased. It cuts both ways, some postings look great money wise, but why do they need to throw that kind of money around, given the handful of years leading up to today? Do your due diligence and figure out if working IT there is OK for your personal needs and situation or not.

IT is outsourced. So you will be in a shadow organization that will eventually be outsourced too.

Best avoided unless there are no other options.
