Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Hearing rumbles 2 stages of cuts coming

So hearing 15% to 20% more management riff coming !!The first round got the ones with time who may have been ready and was more targeted this one is gonna shock the ones that dont know its coming. Then second stage of this cost cutting after summer hearing that some of the union associates will then also be offered a buyout package to leave the payroll by the end of year !This could be inside people and field .They always say there wont be a package but everytime they riff management they offer union folks a package

@ser+1n1aaKIl just look around the organizations. Plenty of VPs with way less than 10 reports. Span of control sure isn't what it used to be.

More RIFs please. I know of at least four employees that are prime candidates for the next round.

If they’re cutting management, AT&T instituted a policy in its “2020 Vision” where no manager would have less than 10 direct reports. That is how excess management was surplussed. How many teams at Verizon violate that rule?

Riffs or not associates packages or not .I personally see that this company is really not as vibrant. Its very much in debt Its very top heavy as it always has been they will never riff themselves .The people left that have any knowledge are completely disconnected at this point .Verizon dont go after anything that may bring in Money they have almost no interest in actually accomplishing anything at the top level other them taking profits.I just wonder what will be left in 5 more years or so

Constant cuts are how you know that constant clowns lead all areas of this business now because not one of these jesters and fools ever think about growing the business revenue. There is not a bright bulb above the director level and most of them are not too bright anymore.

Some times its possible in different organizations to target those that want to go .When it comes to reps and such around country not really possible to filter. But no doubt with all the restructuring there will also be alot more major riffs.Union associates may in some groups see offers to leave but as a whole their really is not much meat on the bone left regardless of amount of work there has to be a fleet of inside outside hands on techs onhand !Image a major disaster within VZ actual foot print

That 15% number gets thrown around way to much. For certain small organizations within VZ I’m sure it is applicable, but not Verizon or VBG or VCG or other acronym. Over the period of years, yes 15 to 20 % across many orgs is feasible and probable - but not over several months.

That being said, I have no doubts that the RIFs will be increasing in frequency and/or size.

Good luck to all.

A completely asinine post.Factually wrong on both of your points. The cuts impacted multiple biz units. Rif's and union offers are not tied in any way. Go back to taking a nap in your truck..Thanks for calling

“The first round got the ones with time who may have been ready and was more targeted”

Lies - the last cut impacted people across multiple business units and it was not tenured based
