Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Take a step back

WFC is just a job, plain and simple. Don't get caught up in the whole "going over and beyond" mindset because what you'll end up with is a higher bar for what they expect from you and that's it. Trust me, keeping it at a reasonable level saves you both from unnecessary stress and unrealistic expectations. Just do what's required and enjoy your life outside of work. It's not as if hard work will pay off with a promotion or a better raise. We all know how that works.

Do not be like me, Mike. I was the top performer in my group only to be dumped 2 months ago. Once they run that algorithm, nothing else matters. Do your job, do not go out of the way to do more thinking it might save you.

Yep! Made this choice when I joined a new team because it’s just not worth it. Timing was perfect because no one knew my prior work :) my goal was to not be the “go to” person anymore and I love it here. Just leave at the end of the day and that’s that.

Good work is rewarded with more work. You can be a top producer in your department and still get a meets. We see what is going on and are tired of it.

It took me five years to realize this, but I do now. Why should I work extra hard when I’m already doing twice the work of most in my department? Even since I slowed down I’m still doing the most.
Wells is screwed in the long term. High functioning employees have zero reason to give that extra any more, especially since those jobs are being shipped overseas.

Yes! Working on getting more comfortable with this every day. Honestly it has been liberating to let go of what I thought my “work relationship” was or “should” be.

I still provide great work for the hours I am working for WF, but there is no more extra of me or my work outside of that.

Agreed! When they decide to ax you they could care less about who you are. How long you have been here. How many service excellence awards you have received. You are just a number.

At the end of the day you are just another number within the Enterprise.
